amit.shah 51 Report post Posted June 2, 2009 MTNL unveils pre-paid 3G service for Rs 300 2 Jun 2009, Economic Times NEW DELHI: State-run MTNL today brought 3G services to the masses by introducing a prepaid option for this high-end service at just Rs 300. Announcing the launch of the pre-paid 3G service, company CMD R S P Sinha said, "MTNL is launching 3G Jadoo Prepaid Services so that customer should be able to avail the latest 3G/3.5G services at an affordable price". Since pre-paid is the preferred by customers, the 3G service will be available for only Rs 300 with lifetime validity, whereby a customer can make local video calls at Rs 1.8/minute and data download at Rs 3/MB. In addition, a subscriber can also choose any of the data coupons to avail free data downloads coupled with free video calling to suit ones individual requirement, Sinha said. Sinha expects the launch of pre-paid 3G services to increase it customer base. He said the PSU has around 400 subscribers for its recently-launched 3G service and expects 2,00,000 to 3,00,000 users for in the first year of operations. The company introduced 3G services in Delhi in December and in Mumbai last month. The state-run telecom operator expects to add new capacity to accommodate 8,00,000 users, he said. me_saket 73 Report post Posted July 2, 2009 MTNL MUMBAI BEGINS 3G HSDPA MOBILE BROADBAND SERVICE Source: telecomTalk Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) today announced the commercial launch of first 3G Mobile Internet Service in Mumbai whichoffer enhanced 3G HSDPA (High Speed Down link Packet Access) Data services for residential and enterprise customers of Its Dolphin and Trump GSM Mobile service in Mumbai. The MTNL 3G HSDPA card on offer will support data download speeds up to 3.6 Mbps and 7.2 MBPS, the data upload speeds will be up to 384 Kbps. The 3G HSDPA Service is now available for all new and existing Postpaid and Prepaid subscriber of its GSM Mobile service Dolphin along with Trump. Presently MTNL 3G HSDPA network of Mumbai is available in Cuffeparade, Fountain, Cooperage, City , Mazagaon, Mandvi, Worli and Dadar areas. 3G Network is also available from Prabhadevi to Mulund on Eastern Express Highway and Prabhadevi to Airport on Western Express Highway of Mumbai.The network is being upgraded every day by addition of new towers and will cover entire Mumbai in a phased manner. The details of upgradtion of network will be conveyed regularly by SMS to customers.The MTNL 3G HSDPA service comes at Rs.149 per month with Free Data Usage of 60 MB.The new Prepaid or Postpaid customers have to buy a new HSDPA Trump/Dolphin SIM starter kit. The MRP of this SIM kit is Rs.300. The normal SIM kit life cycle as applicable to Trump customers will be applicable to HSDPA Prepaid SIM kit also. (Grace period 90 days, after expiry of the validity first 30 days balance will be carried forward if recharged, after 60th day the balance will be confiscated if not recharged on 91st day the SIM card will be deleted.) The activation of HSDPA facility will be customer controlled and can be activated by recharging the HSDPA coupon of Rs.149. The activation is similar to normal SIM activation which is by making a voice call. The HSDPA validity recharge coupon Rs.149/- is to be recharged every month to keep the customer’s account active. The Details of 3G Data Recharges for Prepaid or Data Plans for Postpaid are as follows- MTNL is also providing the HSDPA Data card in two variant one 3.2 MBPS HSDPA data card at Rs. 3499/- with 1 GB Free data download and SIM kit on promotional basis for a limited period to customers.3G HSDPA Data card with 7.2 Mbps speed are also available for sale through MTNL CSCs at Rs. 5000/- along with a Free data voucher of Rs.750/-and Rs.300/- SIM kit.
