me_saket 73 Report post Posted June 21, 2009 Verizon Wireless has announced the creation of a USB device that is compatible with both GSM and CDMA networks that will bring high speed wireless connectivity at 3G speeds and EV-DO Rev. A to notebook computers. The device is called the Novatel USB 1000 Global Modem and is ideal for people who frequently travel or spend time in both North America and the rest of the globe. The Modem will go on sale at Verizon Wireless tomorrow and will retail at $149.99 after you deduct a $50 mail in rebate and is tied in with a two year contract to the company. Additionally, Verizon also has a few Global Access plans that begin at $129.99 per month and include 5 GB of transfers between Canada and the US and up to a maximum of 100MB of transfers between 31 different international destinations. For those who expect to use more data while on the go, for $219.99 per month there is a plan that offers up to 200MB of international transfers with overages costing .5 a penny per each kilobyte.
