me_saket 73 Report post Posted July 7, 2009 ^^^here goes the calculation total minutes i spoke = 30 minutes and 58 seconds total minutes saved = 5 minutes and 2 seconds since call charge is 1p/1 sec i was charged Rs 18.58 and i saved Rs 3.02 if pulse rate is 1 min and call charge is 60p/1min [1p/1sec] then i will be charged Rs 21.6 for 36 minutes of usage.. hence proved 21.6 = 18.58 + 3.02 i saved 13.9815 % [21.6*13.9815/100 = 3.02] Thanks ramesh. All rimweberian Now it is time to chage ur service provider to docomo, As it is giving CLEARly saving of Appox 14% in ur usage.

me_saket 73 Report post Posted July 7, 2009 I was going through the tata docomo website especially the recharge voucher section under the Kerala circle. I did a small calculation: 1 rupee of talktime offers a talktime of 100 seconds A recharge of 101 e-recharge offers a taltime of 91.6 So Rs. 91.6 offers a talktime of 9160 seconds So it means that for Rs. 100 you are offered a taltime of 9160 second. Cost per second actually incurred is Rs. 100*100/9160= 1.091ps/sec When u calcualte on a minutely basis, i.e 1.091*60 secs= 65.4 approx 65ps/min which is comparable to the rates offered by other operators. I calculated for the Rs. 10 e recharge as well and that gave me a per minute call rate of 84 ps/min. But the main advantage offered by Tata is the per second pulse rate. I think per second pulse rate steals the show. It was a totally new and unexpected concept. u got confused with service tax. Any operator is giving TT after deducating service tax only. if u see rcom gsm, it is also giving TT of Rs88, and u can talk Rs88/0.60perminute = 147minutes= 8866 seconds(if all call end at exactly 60th second) which is ofcource not higher than docomo's 9160seconds so always do calculation after deducting ST. But in my circle (Andhra Pradesh) other GSM operators (don't know about BSNL) are not providing 60 Paise/Min. tariff as a base-line tariff. If I want to get 60 Paise/min tariff, then I'll have to subscribe to a add-on pack which would cost anywhere between 30 to 50 depending on the operator. I hope sometime very soon every operator has to offer 60 Paise/Min as a base-line tariff.
kshah 452 Report post Posted July 7, 2009 Comparision between second and minute based charges is not possible. What if some operator give you half the price per minute but 1 hour as pulse rate? bhargavachandra 3 Report post Posted July 7, 2009 (edited) Both Savramesh & Vvinayakpai have ignored the amount spent on rate cutter. Least rate cutter is Rs 21 for 3 months by RGSM .And how it can be divided for calls ? Dear Mr. Prabakar, In the analysis done by Mr. Ramesh, there is no need for a rate cutter because he has mentioned only local calls. As we all know, Tata DoCoMo offers per-second pulse and all local calls are charged 1paise/min (adding up as 60paise/min) without any add-on plan whatsoever. Even assuming that he mentioned STD calls the equation will be same as Mr. Ramesh's connection will be charged 1paise/second whether he calls a local or STD number, without any add-on plan whatsoever. The situations where we need an add-on pack in Tata DoCoMo is: #1. When we want to call local 'on-net' (all Tata mobiles) at 1paise/2sec (adding up as 30paise/min), we can subscribe to local on-net pack. #2. If we buy the connection after promotional offer period, we'lll be charged 2paise/sec for a STD call and we can add-on a STD pack to get 1paise/sec for STD also. #3. If we buy the connection in the promotion period, but exceeded the first 27,000 seconds limit, we can again subscribe to STD add-on. Comments are welcome... savramesh 37 Report post Posted July 7, 2009 (edited) A detailed Calculation % of std calls 84.39 % % of local calls 15.61 % Charged by docomo 1p/1sec for local and std = Rs 18.58 If pulse is 1min and charge is 60p/1min then i will be charged = Rs 21.60 Amount saved by docomo = 21.60 - 18.58 = Rs 3.02 % saved = 3.02/21.6*100 = 13.9815 % If local is Re1/1min and std is Rs1.5/1min then i will be charged = Rs 50.50 [basic tariff of all operators without rate cutters] Amount saved while comparing with basic tariff = 50.50 - 18.58 = Rs 31.92 % saved = 31.92/50.50*100 = 63.2079 % I will record all call charges for one month.. then we shall have a calculation with a rate cutter.. Rs 99 Per month with 100 MB Free data usage 1p/1kb on Tata home network. 10p/10kb on Tata and non-tata roaming network. u can find it in postpaid section That is there for past 3-4 days. But the postpaid services are still not open to the consumers here in Kerala. Also no such plans for prepaid where majority of the customers are.. Somehow I feel tata plans to make money through VAS as their call rates are dead cheap. I tried I-Channel. Unfortunately my phone is not supported(nokia e71). vvinayakpai 26 Report post Posted July 8, 2009 (edited) At the launch of Tata Docomo, it was said that the South Indian circles would go live within a fortnight from the day the Chennai services were launched (Refer to the first article in this topic). If that deadline is to be met, Tata will have to launch their services in Puducherry, AP and Karnataka by July 8th, 2009 Keeping fingers crossed and expecting the Karnataka launch very soon Edited July 8, 2009 by vvinayakpai
