aeroamit 18 Report post Posted June 30, 2009 Yes, its a CDMA -GSM phone like BB-8830 WE. Below is excerpts from Crackberry.com "Research in Motion announced the BlackBerry Tour 9630, their latest next-generation non-touchscreen, full physical qwerty smartphone for CDMA carriers. A replacement to the popular BlackBerry 8830 World Edition, the BlackBerry Tour will with time roll out to CDMA carriers including Verizon, Sprint, Alltel, Bell, Telus and likely everywhere the 8830 was sold. We first reviewed the BlackBerry Tour three months ago in March, and while our device was pre-release our in-depth BlackBerry". Mufaddal 678 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 ^^^ its a quadband phone with 850mhz so i guess it will work on edge networks in usa like bb storm the 3G is 2100mhz so i guess 3G wont work in usa , but outside usa ( though TMOBILE uses 2100 mhz for 3G ) so just like bb storm it will be bit expensive as it will be of use to people on gsm networks in usa

Mufaddal 678 Report post Posted July 21, 2009 the problem is reliance is still esn based and not meid based network if it becomes meid based network then we have soln for most of new phones including pre
Greatest 55 Report post Posted July 21, 2009 ^^ do you think reliance might anytime in the future change the technology (from esn to meid)? do they require to upgrade their infrastructure??
Sadikk 301 Report post Posted July 21, 2009 bb 9630 has wifi , i dont know about verizon but sprint version has wifi It dont have wifi... Sprint announced all phone by them will have have wifi from 2010-2011
Sadikk 301 Report post Posted July 21, 2009 MEID generates pESN which is temporary solution for ESN based base stations.... In future all MEID will access BS by giving MEIDs and not pESN.... even now lots of RUIM and handsetsby reliance and tata are MEID based but phones send pESN and not MEID to BS.... pESN always have a risk of not being unique per user as its randomly calculated by MEID... so pESN is going to be absolete in next 2 years if only CDMA exist till that time... MEID will become standard solution for CDMA same like IMEI for GSM.... recently i discover this whole kahani to explain customs department...
