Hows the all new Motorola C131 ?

Recommended Posts

Wow we have an all new forum to discuss abt the new entrants of CDMA mobile phones...

Can some prepaid customers talk/ highlight things abt their new handset >> Motorola C131??

Any idea whether we can use this C131 for Postpaid also? Simply because its damn cheap and no fuss abt R-World charges in here, coz its not a WAP or GPRS phone!

all i meant was whether it is compatible with post paid or not... i guess it shud be. coz someone whose not interested in RWorld or RConnect can go for this handset and take a Budget Plan... hence in 3500 u can have a handset with no other obligations or payments everymonth henceforth! wht say?

after reading that review i felt as if that person was completely let down by the handset becoz he expected just too much out of it.... and moreover he was from a city like Jaipur.. when things dont happen in Mumbai wht kind of customer service Jaipur can give !! :D

hi bineesh

welcome to the forum. as far as i can tell there is no way.

well there is a way. i think it was niket who suggested it, that we buy a rom programmer. costs bout 20000 i think. or else our hackers will have to do some serious hacking... though it sounds pretty impossible. and anyway those guys dont have motoroala. they have lg. so we, who have lg are lucky... :confuse: hard luck buddy. but i hope some one will bring bout some solution....

btw feel free to introduce yourself and talk freely.... we like to have ppl who talk...

Introduce yourself here

Hi everyone,

MY VIEW ON THE MOTOROLA C131

Im quite impressed with the performace as well as features of moto c131 .

What can one expect with a phone that comes so cheap with recharge vouchers.???

As far as Rworld is concerned, most of it is available thru the 1234 service.

cheers

I like hear more on C131,

Is that has keypad backlight?

Is Keypad button feels good? (they are easy to type)

And 1234 service is highly priced Rs.2 per msg.

i just happened to use the Motorola 131 which is owned by my frnd... My experience with it was pretty much good. What i liked was its light weight, soft buttons and cool look!!

What was sick was its extremely small alphabet display... it is really difficult to read something on it... and yes, its navigation for messaging is the same as of nokia 2280 or Samsung ... which i personally dont like,...

Otherwise, in Rs. 3500/- its a fairly good deal...

I purchased the C131 from the Reliance Web World stall in an exhibition for 1500.00.

Being a GSM user I though that this was an attractive entry price for an instrument (including two 324 refils of Rs. 400.00 talk time).

After using it for over a month, here is my list of pros and cons:

Pros:

Attractive Styling

Egronomicall designed instrument (fits nicely against your ear)

No protruding antenna

Good sound and speech clarity

Cons:

Poor screen visibility. This is the worst screen ever.

Poor font legibility. Font size extremely small and not easily readible. If you are avid SMS'er then this phone is not for you.

Centre toggle circular key on the keypad does not function properly. One has to press it numerous times before you can get it to work.

This instrument is only good for someone who is JUST interested in making and receiving calls. SMS users can avoid this phone and save your eyes.

No R World or R Connect availabe with this phone.

I quite agree with amc in his/her assessment of the C131. Since I purchased the C131 on Feb 11, I have been using this phone extensively for nearly two months.

I will add on to the +ve and -ve points mentioned by amc.

* This is an attractive entry price for an instrument -- Yep, I agree that the C131 is extremely affordable. In fact, my dad (who sells RIM prepaid phones) recently sold a C131 to our chaiwala!

Pros:

* Attractive Styling

* Egronomicall designed instrument (fits nicely against your ear)

* No protruding antenna

* Good sound and speech clarity

MY ADDITION:

* Essential features are available for a phone so cheap

Cons:

* Poor screen visibility. This is the worst screen ever.

* Poor font legibility. Font size extremely small and not easily readible. If you are avid SMS'er then this phone is not for you.

* Centre toggle circular key on the keypad does not function properly. One has to press it numerous times before you can get it to work.

MY ADDITIONS:

* The buttons "<- C" (which is cancel) lies above the "Phone Call" button, while the "OK" feature lies above the "Call Cancel" button. Now, this is silly. In my opinion, the "Cancel" feature should have been above the "Call Cancel" feature.

* In the C131, the 'Easy text' is default. If I wish to manually insert my own characters, I have to change the setting with each SMS. There should have been a general setting, whereby I could have stored the manual input of SMS, instead of the silly "Eazy text", which rarely has the words I need to input.

* The fonts ARE small, but to avoid straining my eyes, I send all my SMS messages in the upper case. In this case, the fonts appear larger on the screen.

Motorola C131 is a good mobile phone for entry level persons.

But motorola is also having other CDMA models.

Any idea whether Reliance will introduce them to India.
