But according to a recent report by The Register, that HTC-made Windows Mobile laden device of yours might be susceptible to wireless sniffing via Bluetooth. The security flaw affects HTC-made handsets running Windows Mobile 6.0 and 6.1. The flaw is caused by a bug in the FTP stack implementation by HTC on these phones. What a potential "attacker" can do using this flaw is to gain access to the phone's shared folders. According to Microsoft, this flaw affects only select HTC made phones because of the third party Bluetooth driver developed by HTC. To be specific, the attacker will need to gain authentication and authorization rights and then use tools to gain access to parent directories. The need for authorization for the attack to "work" actually makes things a lot safer but it still remains vulnerable with sophisticated techniques like sniffing the Bluetooth pairing, cracking the link key or spoofing the MAC address can still make the flaw "work".
