Can Nokia 1255 Reliance Be Converted To Accept All Sims

Dear Friends,

I have a used Noika 1255, which I had been using for Reliance. Now the handset is empty without any number. I has a RUIM slot in it. Is it possible to use MTS or TATA in this. If possible, where can this be done?

I have tried using the TATA's Indicom SIM card (CDMA) in my 6265 without any further changes.. it went fine. You can try with that, but I didnt had time to check the R-World like in TATA's.

thats goood idea from mohan,if you are still in doubt , u can try asking nokia headquarters by sending e mail .

If it is RUIM based, then other operator's card should work, because Nokia's RUIM handsets are usually network independent.

This is not a open handset like Nokia 6265 or 6275. Even though there is a ruim slot, nothing happens when card is inserted in it. The phone is programmed for Reliance.

Any idea how this Ruim card slot can be activated?

dear pasumark it is easy you have to udate the flash of this mobile just contact any mobile repairing shop and ask them to flash or unlock it for tata indicom and give them not more than 50 rupees after that u can use tata ruim in this handset but after unlocking reliance ruim not works in it and i am not sure about MTS because i am not checked it yet but above procedure is tested by mine on nokia 2280 also which is a programming based reliance handset having disabled ruim slot but after flashing the tata ruim works in it and reliance ruim not supported u can check mts on it hope mts will work on it also
