Mufaddal 678 Report post Posted July 23, 2009 (edited) so folks i have finally got htc touch diamond for my own use, so thought about writing a short review abt it , as many of u want to know about the handset these are my initial impressions of handset , will write a full blwon review when i get more time FIRST IMPRESSIONS : Coming from mogul this handset gets the "awe " , it is much more sleeker and lighter as compared to mogul the phone looks uber cool , and with TF3D it looks even more prettier the handset is a monoblock design and feels very solid in hand , no creaks or squeaks whatsoever BUILT QUALITY: The built quality is better than what gsm touch diamond offers the back of the phoen has matte finish and that allows for ot of grip the front of the phone has gorgeous 2.8 inch vga screen which just looks too good as compared to grainy screens of mogul or touch though still the phoen has a bit of plasticy feel to it DESIGN THE front panel has two call keys (recive and end) the home and back key and a scroll wheel which also functiosn as d pad with center "ok" button the side has two volume keys ( up and down are bit sunken ) the bottom has the standard mini usb port which is used for charge , headset . the best part is that sprint includes a mini usb to 3.5/2.5 mm adapter PERFORMANCE performance wise i m impressed he phone has 288 mb ram and 528mhz and so its faster than gsm variant and also mogul and htc touch though if u running touch flo 3d the phone responds slow , but there is little lag i m yet to progarm my phone for reliance ,so other features like call quality and data will be posted later these are my initial impressions , will post more detailed reviewwith pics when i explore my device more and btw FM radio and call recording works perfectly well in diamond Edited August 14, 2009 by mufaddal_km

Mufaddal 678 Report post Posted July 26, 2009 ^^^ as i told u before also to get fm u will need to load a custom rom fm cabs wont work coz fm .dll work only when incorporated into rom so bottomline is u will need to load custom rom also there are many versions of ICR available try some other version, u might be using old versions of ICR there was one from diypda , which works well i saw it on xda forum just search
tanveer 59 Report post Posted July 26, 2009 I am on mighty rom 4. The length of SMS in this rom is 130 characters. Any workarounds? Is it rom specific or is it so for all diamonds?
Mufaddal 678 Report post Posted July 26, 2009 i think its rom specific coz on groove rom its 160 also on sprint rom its 160 btw hows mighty rom ....i have downloaded version 4.7 but havent tried

tanveer 59 Report post Posted July 26, 2009 it was rom specific in fact. mighty is from canada and his carrier (probably telus) allows only 130 characters. found a cab called sms160 and that fixed the problem. talking about tweaks, is there one for stoping this service area pop up from irritating me again and again? tanveer 59 Report post Posted July 26, 2009 I think hetals roms never gave these problems. so there must be some setting/ cab that can fix this.
Mufaddal 678 Report post Posted July 27, 2009 i had the same problem with mogul also ...i used to get the notification time and again but when i changed prl it reduced in frequency there is no cab fix for it. i have searched on xda and ppc geeks but cudnt find anything significant. dkaile 1,051 Report post Posted July 27, 2009 It is not prl related... it is rom related... it can only be disabled at rom generation levels... i.e when you put together your own rom... hetal can help in this...
rahujas 16 Report post Posted July 27, 2009 Please comment on the battery life of DIAMOND as compared to TOUCH and Mogul. Also is there any tweaks or registry settings or cab than can be used to improve on battery life.

nitink 279 Report post Posted July 28, 2009 Please comment on the battery life of DIAMOND as compared to TOUCH and Mogul. Also is there any tweaks or registry settings or cab than can be used to improve on battery life. battery life is ok types. apart from the registry settings, u can find on xda u can also Turn off the Beam setting Turn off Error reporting Turn off WiFi when not in use Make sure the “key lock” is on. It will prevent accidental key presses when your device will be in your pocket. To do this, go to start>settings>system>key lock and select “lock all buttons except power button”. Also go to settings/task manager/buttons and enable the option to end programs by tapping "x". The default setting is for tapping "x" to minimize the program and not end it. Programs running in background drain power too. Those drain the battery when in use and will stay in use 24/7 unless you disable them. have done this too - Disable "GPRS auto attach" in Advanced Configuration Tool. Mufaddal 678 Report post Posted July 28, 2009 the battery of touch diamond is 1360 mah and that of mogul is 1500mah but the battery life is very much comparable to that of mogul and touch the battery optimisations are better plus if u load mighty rom ( most of us here use mighty rom) u will get great battery life the battery life on touch diamond cdma is far better than gsm version which just s**ks
Mufaddal 678 Report post Posted July 30, 2009 diamond has built in accelerometer called gsensor but sadly by default it works only with few apps (browser, photos, teether) using an application called GSen , now the accelerometer can work with any app just start the app , when u tilt ur device ur orientation will also change from potrait to landscape play games in landscape using the acclerometer just like in iphone or type messages in landscape with onscreen qwerty which makes it more finger freindly to type also attaching need for speed undercover game with awesome graphics , it is accelerometer based , reminds me of iphone games gsen.zip Under_cover.cab
nitink 279 Report post Posted July 30, 2009 if u dont wanna pick up a call or u r in a meeting, just put the ringing diamond face down on the table. It will go silent.
Mufaddal 678 Report post Posted July 30, 2009 ^^^ that depends from rom to rom if u using gsen then it shud do that for call recording use this it records sound from both sides of call , there is slight hiss ,but u can still hear both parties well u need to have a dialer with call recording option just install the cab file InCallRecording_Wavdev DLL.cab
nitink 279 Report post Posted July 30, 2009 i m not using gsen its a standard diamond innovation all phones have that feature
