Inter Communication Among Two Mobiles W/o Base Stn

Hi all there.....

I was wondering, my mobile is capable of transmitting information all the way to the Reliance Base Station (or Tower) which is located at say 25 kms distance from my handset.

I was wondering how nice it would be if one mobile could transfer data to another without the intermediary base station.... if any of you guys have a guess or sugesstion do tell me please.

(If someone feels that it is impossible, please contact me I will send you a pdf file, that I got a long time back, when I was thinking about this.)

Another question is that how do i get to the programming menu in LG RD2030

tried mnu+0+9 etc got a Software version 08.
