aeroamit 18 Report post Posted June 23, 2010 Need help on downgrading OS from 4.5.0.175 to 4.2.2.196 on BB8830. I have performed all the steps as mentioned above and its getting updated too,but my BB8830's OS remains 4.5.0.175 only. When I try search for OS in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8830-v4.2.2.196_P3.0.0.85 it gives message that there are currently no suitable updates available. Am I missing something in the process. Thanks in Advance Amit
::Hitesh:: 1,763 Report post Posted June 23, 2010 ^^^ First check that your mobile is ESN base or MEID base, if it is MEID base then os 4.2.2 will not work. If it is ESN base, then you can do wipe with BBSAK and load os, before that you have to un-install all other BB OS from your system and also delete vendor.xml (dont know why this is done, most of the time that files dose not contain any data).
aeroamit 18 Report post Posted June 23, 2010 Thanks Hitesh for response. My BB8830 is MEID based. I am trying to scan it using UniCDMA and then will try to read with WinHex.

estranged 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2010 Hi! My first post on the forums. I am using BB 8330, bought from Reliance Showroom ( v4.0.50186 , Platform - 3.4.0.59). I am not able to update to OS 5.0 via Desktop Manager. Does the above method work and is compatible with Reliance CDMA network? The link here says that please check with your service provider if it supports. That gives me some cofusion. Thanks for taking out time to read this and help me out. Cheers, Rohit

rahulmalik_81 1 Report post Posted August 10, 2010 I'm also using 8330(official).i am able to load OS 5.0 without any hitch.BIS also works
Mufaddal 678 Report post Posted August 10, 2010 yes you can load os 5.0 on 8330 if the website says so i loaded os 5 on a bb 9530 also all os 5 is available to 8330 and 9530 , only to poeple who have bis you can load os 5.0 by using forced loading method well for that what u need to do is -install os 5.0 - then download and instal bb desktop manager 4.7 or older try using as old bb usb drivers as possible , new drivers wont allow u to use this i use the bb drivers of mfi tool which work perfect ( in case anyone needs i can upload it ) - then remove battery from curve - open app loader and delete vendor xml file ans start app loader - connect device to pc it will show pin now reinsert battery , and in some time it will show "unkown" in place of pin no , at this time just press next , remember timing is very important , press next as soon as u see unkown then it will show you os 5.0 and ask if u want to update unless you do this it will not show you os 5.0 even if u use app loader as per post 1 you have to force bb to take os 5
rahulmalik_81 1 Report post Posted August 10, 2010 @mufaddal: nice guide though i loaded the os by this way 1. uninstall all previous installed os from pc 2. downloaded and installed desktop manager 4.5 3. installed OS 5.0.0.230 4. deleted vendor.xml 5. connected bb to pc and opened Desktop Manager 6. install the new os through App Loader in Desktop Manager that's it

Thanks It depends on the version you are using.i like to play with my bb so tried diff os and found 5.0.0.230 to be the best. u can also try a hybrid based on 5.0.0.230 u just have to try yourself to be the best judge
