shubhanyu 13 Report post Posted October 11, 2009 ^^^ thats y they coming up with bb essex aka bbtour 2 in next 3 4 mnths with wifi and trackpad It is all marketing strategy ..... bring out a product just too tempting but one essential feature missing. Months later, bring out the same product with the missing feature that should have been pre-built-in. Confuse the customers into dishing out cash .... brendon1000 1 Report post Posted October 16, 2009 Well the Tour is locked to both the GSM & CDMA networks. So you can use either a Reliance GSM number or a Reliance CDMA number. GPS will not work on CDMA but will work on the Reliance GSM network.

kesav 127 Report post Posted November 10, 2009 (edited) Guys, Don't go for Tour. If the following article to be believed then Tour 2 will hit the stores during Christmas. Smartphone without WiFi is too strange. RIM may try to dumb Tour in Indian market since there are no takers in US market after the speculation about Tour 2(Essex). So hold on guys for 3 more months, it'll hit Indian market. Almost two months ago, I hooked you guys up with one of the first pictures of the BlackBerry Essex, or as it will most likely be eventually be called, the Tour2. The photo came from CrackBerry, everyone's favorite RIM addiction website. Yesterday they posted a video of the Essex on YouTube, which I have for you here. The Essex is pretty much the exact same thing as the Tour, except it has WiFi capability and the new trackpad in the place of trackball. The phone will eventually be released on Verizon and Sprint, but the release date is where things get interesting. While some think it will be released in January or February of 2010, a growing number of people choose to believe that the phone will be released in time for the holiday season. As if the Storm2 wasn't enough for CDMA BlackBerry users. source :: http://www.examiner.com/x-19475-Dallas-BlackBerry-Examiner~y2009m10d29-A-look-at-the-BlackBerry-Essex-Tour2-includes-video Edited November 10, 2009 by kesav
nandusharma 1 Report post Posted November 30, 2009 Got Tour 9630 on 25th. I was using Curve 8330 earlier. from the time time i switched tour on it was showing EV1X instread of 1X on Curve. The speed also seems to be much faster. In fact near wifi speed which my colleague gets on his GSM Blackberry handseat. i wonder if this is EVDO. I understood in Reliance the only EVDO service was the netconnect broadband USB modem. I am from Cochin in Kerala. have they done a soft launch of EVDO on BlackBerry handsets?
nandusharma 1 Report post Posted December 12, 2009 well EVDO on BlackBerry is real. I traveled recently from Cochin to coimbatore by road. My phone showed EV1X in both these cities and in all the way i beween it was just 1X. The speed of the browser seems to be much higher than even EDGE when it showed EV and slower during 1X. But only Tour has this feature.. 8330 still shows only 1X and is slower.

Mufaddal 678 Report post Posted December 13, 2009 (edited) wow atleast few people are getting to use evdo on handsets btw for 8130/8830/8330 all are evdo capable its showing 1x coz its having 1x prl to get evdo u need evdo prl just find spc of ur device ( google their are lot of tutorials ) use qpst and load evdo prl unlock nam so that it doesnt revert to 1x and u should be getting evdo on ur 8830/830/8130 as well hope that evdo prl works get the evdo prl from attachment here http://www.rimweb.in...me-on-palm-pre/ if still u not getting evdo inspite of this evdo prl then we have to extract one out of 9630 , which will be bit difficult btw while loading this evdo prl on my palm pre i also saw that initially i was getting evdo sign on my pre but no data then i had to force it to 1x and then only data worked so this means only bb devices getting evdo now Edited December 13, 2009 by mufaddal_km

Mufaddal 678 Report post Posted December 14, 2009 ^^^ its extracted from evdo data card and luckily it supports voice/sms/1x data thru same channel for blackberry tour 9630 i have seen that people in usa sell the msl/spc codes , they have ties with sprint hence they can get spc/msl may be if some one is infleuntial with reliance blackberry dept , we can try our luck
Sadikk 301 Report post Posted December 14, 2009 SPC of sprint handset possible cos they have SPCs in system where CC guys of sprint see it.. Unlike reliance.. reliance got technical department for this.. and they are very conservative on all this type of requests and questions.. so i dont think its possible in reliance.. i am doing it on imported BBs first to see if it latch to EV and Rworld works or no.. thn will try on reliance official BBs.. and revert..
