karpar 1 Report post Posted October 15, 2004 (edited) I logged in last Wednesday and there were about 6 pages of "Unread Posts". (The previous login was on Sunday). Today, I logged in to find 8 pages waiting for me! Usually, about 2-3 pages of "Unread Posts" get piled up over a week. This is some surge! Keep up the good work guys! And happy posting! deepu 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2004 Considering the number of reliance users, the user base of rimweb is still in thousands.... There is some thing that can be done to avoid that.. Turn off guest browsing... Let everyone take membership to browse the site...
Vishal Gupta 4 Report post Posted October 17, 2004 What will be the benefit if guest account is disabled? Guest can't make any post. and this is true that this site is rocking. before some days i used to logon only once in a day at 10:30 pm. But now i also logon in day, means two time in a day. cauz no of posts r two much two read.
zombiee 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2004 WEll I think u shouldnt force member ship .. may be guests should just let b.. see if they want to be a member.. anyways... numbers .. wont to anything great .. but participation does.. and since only members can.. IMHO .. its that wat counts.. cos the pages of posts are from member.. WAT SAY PEPAL>..
Code 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2004 I think allowing guest post will add up lots of waste irrelevant and nonsense posts besides adding to opportunity for easy flaming/hate topics thereby making things more chaotic to all and painful to moderators. Vishal Gupta 4 Report post Posted October 17, 2004 Yah! i agree with code. Guest should only be allowed to see the contents of this forum not to post anything. If guests want to post then they can join this forum and make post. SIMPLE!!!

Basant 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2004 this forum should admit only genuine RIM users. so be sure of this, every member must disclose his/her RIM number to the forum/admn. such a step would prevent any mis use of forum and every one would behave in a responsible manner. do u agree with me? city02 63 Report post Posted October 20, 2004 nope, I disagree: 1. people who are planning on getting a RIM are equally 'genuine users' of this forum. 2. its very easy to fake a RIM # unless someone is going to verify them manually which is too much effort (unless we setup a system to SMS the initial password to the RIM provided and who wants to pay for that?) 3. even current users are quite capable of 'mis-using' this forum i think we should continue with the current policy of allowing guests to 'read-only' while logins are required to post & read the tech sub-forums. raccoon 53 Report post Posted October 20, 2004 I would fully agree with City. There would be many people who may be considering a new RIM who could benifit from this forum. Also, some past users may have valuable contributions to make. Besides users may not like to disclose their phone numbers for obvious reasons... One of the main advantages the web is the option to stay anonymous. Lets not try to take that important element away.
Ashokjp 15 Report post Posted October 23, 2004 Our aim is not increase in no of users.. People can read even without registering and if they are really intrested and want to contribute or want to post they can register and do so..
