About Microsoft Security Essentials

Microsoft Security Essentials provides real-time protection for your home PC that guards against viruses, spyware, and other malicious software.

Microsoft Security Essentials is a free* download from Microsoft that is simple to install, easy to use, and always kept up to date so you can be assured your PC is protected by the latest technology. It's easy to tell if your PC is secure — when you're green, you're good. It's that simple.

Microsoft Security Essentials runs quietly and efficiently in the background so that you are free to use your Windows-based PC the way you want—without interruptions or long computer wait times.

Its great that Microsoft is offering the service for free and I hope it will be bundled by default with Windows 7. If previous versions of Windows had a free bundled antivirus software that can be updated online then there wouldn't have been so many zombie PCs which are a great threat to the internet.

Dear Arun Bhai,

did you checked this software? Is it worth as free avira antivirus? Because Avira is doing a perfect protection to our computer and even upgrading latest virus/spyware/adware databases.

any reviews?

I have started using it at my home pc since yesterday!

however, the updates took a long time at the first installation. that might be 'cause the initial download is only 8+MB.

do share if someone has a bad opinion so that i can alternate.

so far it has detected a few trojans on my PC.
