Mukeshlst 5 Report post Posted October 2, 2009 In an initiative that would take the GSM Mobile service offering in rural areas to a new level, India’s National Telecom Backbone and the leading telecom service provider, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) today announced that it will now offer the cheapest local call connectivity to rural and remote areas in the state of Rajasthan with in the BSNL network. BSNL launches the “BTS-the mobile tower Based Tariff scheme” which is first time introduced in India by any GSM mobile service provider. The tariff for the calls originated through the rural area’s BTS will be 20 paisa per minute for local call with in BSNL network and all STD call own network will be chargeable at Rs.1.00/ per min. Now all new as well as existing BSNL prepaid customers of rural area can avail this new base tariff without the purchase of any STV or bonus recharge and irrespective of their present plan. The other network call/SMS and other charges will be applicable as per Normal prepaid plan.In each BSNL SSA(District) BTSs have been identified in rural area where traffic is low and there is only BTS in the village/town wherein BSNL subscriber can enjoy the local call to BSNL phone at 20p with in Rajasthan telecom circle.
