dkaile 1,051 Report post Posted November 4, 2009 (edited) I have recently purchased a Dell Studio 15 Laptop with Windows7 home premium 64bit loaded on it. I had the problem that I was unable to share files on my network between my other XP and Windows7 Ultimate (32bit) computer. I've checked that the workgroup names are the same and that file sharing is enabled, but it still didnt allow me to access files between my these pc's . I have no trouble accessing files on the winxp machine from my Dell (W7 HP 64bit) machine, but it wont work the other way around. It gave me an access denied error due to permissions, even though I let it have full control. SOLUTION: It seems that the XP machine and my other W7 32bit uses the "guest" account, and Windows 7 and Vista by default does not give permission to the guest account, even if u select sharing for "everyone". So basically all you have to do is go to the properties of the folder you want to share, click on the Security tab, add "guest", and give it access. thats it I was banging my head since yesterday, so I thought I would share with everybody....
