Best Download Manager?

Recommended Posts

What about the integrated download manager coming with firefox?

What about it Ganesh? im not sure what u meant...

if its about the 'split_mutiple parts_download_join_again' thing.... NO the firefox downloader does NOT do that...altho it has 'resume ' capability, i think it downloads as one single file...no split&join

FlashGET, Getright and Internet Download Manager have a run of the mill look. I know looks aren't everything, still, if what you look at isn't nice...

Ohh, Did i not mention ?

I use FlashGET only for downloading. I've got other softwares for goody - looky purposes.

Try the latest FlashGET 1.65. [ If download speed matters to you ]

For looks, Theres always other download managers.

Hey ganesh,

Try the Flashgot Plugin for FIREFOX. It provides a option on right clicking any

link in the browser "FlashGOt link". If you select this, The download is automatically transferred to FlashGET, and then FlashGET knows how to manage the download :)

[ also suports multipart ] .

You can get the plugin here.

No you didn't pretender, guess you forgot to mention it...

Well, I like everything looking nice...I wasn't looking for a personal face-off.

I don't think DAP is any slower than FlashGET.

has anybody tried a program called DownloadStudio ?...

its the most COMPLETE piece of d/l utility if i have ever seen one....

u have to try this to beleive what im sayin...

tho i have settled for IDM(after a coupla others) as my default d/l manager, i keep this - Download studio for more er...'sophisticated' downloads... ;)

its almost an offline_downloader kinda thing... download files, programs, pictures, audio, video, flash, Web sites and FTP sites ! :D

~ u can search&download for stuff several links deep in ANY website (u select how deep to dig)

~ u can select what kinda files u want to download

~ U can limit the max bandwidth to be used by it

~ U can download and capture streaming audio and video !!! beleive it.

~ Supports all popular internet protocols - HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, MMS and RTSP.

i personally like this one filter "download all jpg >15kb" this way u can practically rip an entire site of its images without any of the unneccessary_repetitive banners and logosfrom the site(coz these pics would be less than 15kb, and so d/lStudio skips them!)

i can see so many potential uses for this last one... ;)

check it out Conceiva Homepage

Trust me, ur gonna luv it.

try Internet download Manager -IDM...absolute work-horse...if ur on a download spree this is gonna be handy

it integrates well with all browsers...might need a small adapter for firefox(which it will download by itself)

DAP is pretty good...was using it for a long time...problem is, its ad-sponsered...it kinda "calls back home" to speedbit.com and report stuff about us...something like that...infact, a lotta anti-spyware appz identify DAP as an ad-ware prog fit to be removed...

besides, even the cracked 'premium' versions of DAP do NOT support the "always resume" function...this s**ks. esp when if u got a looong download Q

Flashget and Getright and pretty good too...

    give'em a try...see which one u like

Even FlashGet is dependent on Cydoor even after registration. Its detected by Spy Sweeper. Cydoor is a spyware that was used by Kazaa.

Strange prob! I've been using Flashget to d/l f911.mpg but after downloading 78% of the file FGet got stuck and started to cause my PC to hang. I've uninstalled and reinstalled FGet but could not resume d/l from the site any more! Even the URL: http://bulk2.ctyme.com/f911.mpg seemed to be of no use! This is the third time I'm stuck with this movie ;)

Please help :P

Oops,

Most of download managers are comes with spywares. It manufacturing default. BTW i am very much like Flashget after cleaned the spywares./adwares with Ad-Aware SE from http://www.lavasoft.de This only suitable for techies.

I am suggesting Fresh Download manager for non-techie persons who don't want risk of spyware/adware. FDM is no ads, no spyware, plus advanced feature and you can get this site http://www.freshdevices.com/ , Your feedback is appreciable.

With Regards,

Flashget is definitely the BEST d/l manager.

What I didnt like in DAP is that it stops d/l ing in case of Request Timed out and even doesnt resume after the connections become fine...

But Flashget never stops d/l ing and keep d/l ing.
