karpar 1 Report post Posted November 12, 2004 (edited) I had the trouble too, I disabled both my firewalls and tried and it started downloading...with a very slow speed...I usually get about 5kbps with download managers...I know you can't expect that from a P2P network, but 1kbps???! Edited November 12, 2004 by karpar
Code 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2004 I have seen that Emule has very unreliable behaviour with WinXP SP2. There are rumours that this was intentionally programmed into the OS by M$. know you can't expect that from a P2P network, but 1kbps???! Yeah sometimes it gets slower than this - 2bytes per sec etc.
Ganesh 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2004 I disagree here. i run WINXPSP2 with emule. No problems at all. One chance is there. If you have dual boot, install emule in WIN98 and run in XP.it can make a change

deepu 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2004 if the installed application doesn't need to register any DLL or do not use registry for settings, then if it is installed in win98, you can execute from Winxp by double clicking the .exe file So it doesn't matter whether you have it in Win98 or WinXP
tanveer 59 Report post Posted November 19, 2004 (edited) I have triedusing almost all the P2P network in the past few days, I am not able to download anything using any of them, earlier i used to use Bear share and it worked fine, i had also tried lime wire, i mesh, shareaaza and all worked fine, but now i am not able to use them, i have Sify 32+ KBps connection and am using winxp. Can it be because of service pack 2. please help it is urgent and i am frustrated.... the search on emule works like lightening but downloading buhuhuhu. can anyone tell me the settings ( both of p2p and windows firewall so that i can resume the downloads Edited November 19, 2004 by tanveer
rEdshiFt 1 Report post Posted November 19, 2004 hi, have got it going now? i dont think its becoz of sp2...i use it too if u think its becoz of the firewall, jus try turning off the firewall and try... im not familiar with emule settings(mine's azu).... but im sure its gonna work thro specific ports...so when usin a firewall (weather xp_built in or a seperate one) make sure the port(s) used by ur p2p app are not being blocked - keep them open...check the settings in emule - it should say something about the range of ports it uses. i dont use xp's built_in firewall, but it proly has an stting/option of choosing ur p2p app as a "trusted" app allowed to connect(d/l AND u/l) to the net. u mite wanna try this too... keep us updated... cheers
