I am not that informed about the security issues - real or imagined. I am quite chuffed up about the recent arbitrary, abrupt, and high handed behaviour of the govt. in many matters.

well for terrorist it's always easy to get the SIM card with fake IDs(no matter if it's prepaid or postpaid) so there is no use of making the innocent people suffer. infact GOVT should put heavy fines on the telcos if they issue the SIM on fake documentation in those states.

because if they say that they can stop the terorrist by foricng this law then they are wrong.

You are correct,

but mobile companies dont to detail verification of pre-paid mobile users,

they do good verification of postpaid users,

this may be a small step but a good step may i say.

well if terrorist are doing so many planning then do you think that they won't be able to get hold on these sims. and telcos are not doing the verfication of prepaid because for them it's teh lowest hanging fruit to show the customer base and to get hold on the spectrum. and they are doing thousands of fake activation every month. if by chance they have to do reverifaction all of them will be behind the bars. CEO of Vodafone(i didn't remem the name of the circle) already went to behind the bars for fake activations almost 3 years before
