Bsnl Sancharnet Sms Introduced

Guys, one more initiative from BSNL...

SMS service through Internet (Sancharnet) launched wef 01.10.2004 across the country

The salient features of the service are as follows:

• The users can log into their Sancharnet Mail account and send SMS(s) to any mobile telephone user across the country as normal email, with recipient address as - 'mobile number@sms.sancharnet.in'

• The SMS can be sent to maximum 10 recipients per transaction at a time;

• Size of SMS is limited to 300 characters. In case, the SMS is longer than 165 characters then it will 

be split into 2 parts of 165 characters and the balance characters. Characters beyond 300 will get

truncated;

• SMS to international destinations will not be available;

• The pro-rata minutes shall be deducted per SMS as per Internet Plan taken by Sancharnet customers

• The said facility shall not be available through CLI based Internet Service 'NetOne'.

Tariff for SMS through Sancharnet on National Level

(i) Flat rate of Rs.0.30 paise per SMS on National level

(ii) Discount for bulk SMS on national level would be as follows:-

    Minimum committed SMS Volume per month Tariff

    Minimum 10,000 SMS per month @ Rs.0.25 paise per SMS

    Minimum 25,000 SMS per month @ Rs.0.20 paise per SMS

The above rates are for a period of three months and can be revised later on.

However, Iv been trying to send an SMS to both my RIM and Excel (BSNL pre paid), without luck! B) The emails are just bouncing. Inquiries with Sancharnet regarding the possibility of sending SMS thro this route to a RIM number drew a blank ...as expected. :)

Could anybody with a Sancharnet a/c try and see if its working?

Have been using this service for quite some time now ...but since a month or so not a single SMS is reaching anybody! :)

Any other Sancharnet users here have experienced this?

The toll free helpline number (1957) is very seldom if ever even answered to.

BSNL is the pits! :rolleyes:
