RSumit 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2004 (edited) Yeah, I've used it (my friends). Altough it states 65000 colour display but still the display is not upto the mark. More over its diff. to type/hold it. Now reg. WCDMA: ''Short for wideband CDMA, a high-speed 3G mobile wireless technology with the capacity to offer higher data speeds than CDMA. WCDMA can reach speeds of up to 2 Mbps for voice, video, data and image transmission. WCDMA was adopted as a standard by the ITU under the name "IMT-2000 direct spread." ????? But is it GSM cum CDMA? I'd read in a article on the net which stated that as CDMA2000 is 3G platform for CDMA, WCDMA is the similar 3G platform for GSM. Just cant rem. where Iread it. ?????? I'm not sure though. gadget_monk 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2004 u r right rsumit, WCDMA is an extension of GSM technology... not interoperable with CDMA 2000.
kartikeyamishra 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2004 absolutely right WCDMA is a evolution of GSM towatds 3G, WCDMA phones cannot be used on CDMA 2000 1x networks. Also WCDMA phones are assined the 1900 Mhz bands, CDMA are probobly not going to be alloted the 1900 Mhz which has been reserved under international agreements for IMT 2000 (which is basically 3GSM).. there is a big fight though, only about a week or two back CDMA operators in India viz Reliance and Tata have been demanding a share of the 1900 Mhz spectrum.
