dkaile 1,051 Report post Posted January 9, 2010 (edited) Some initial pointers on Hero (mainly in context to my comparison with Windows Mobile Devices like Pro/Mogul)- - I can safely say that Android is one of the best operating systems I have used TILL DATE on a phone, specially if you are a Google, Gtalk and GMail user. It is a revolution. The way it handles your gmail and chat is astounding and instanteneous. It pushes mail & CHAT faster than it reaches my inbox/pc. Dont be surprised if it give a death blow to blackberry devices in the coming months. - Speaker Phone and Voice Clarity is superior to Pro and Mogul. - It is nearly half in overall form factor of the Pro/Mogul due to shallow depth due to lack of physical keyboard. - Typing on Hero was a PAIN initially but then I discovered that the device is capable of adjusting itself to your touch style and after proper settings the same has improved but still some way to go.... I am missing my friendly stylus a lot... - All my contacts and calendar events came into my phone by wifi even before I had activated my no. on the phone. - My location and weather were automatically detected by the phone and updated without me having to feed anything. My God.... this is a spy phone!!! I fear for my privacy.... - Music Playback on standard 3.5mm can rival any ipod... - Browser was much superior to anything we have seen on windows mobile... - At a price point of less than half than that of the iphone, I can safely say that this the best value for money gadget of this year... wait for more... HetalDP 947 Report post Posted January 11, 2010 I pity that Guys Decision to Buy Diamond instead of Hero. hahahaha PPCGeeks is Hardcore Win Mobile Forum. Comments will be always in favor of Win Mobile. my god They are still on Hotmail i think ven Microsoft People uses Exchnage or Gmail and not Hotmail. If you like Hotmail stick to Win Mob or if gmail.com come on in
dkaile 1,051 Report post Posted January 11, 2010 I have tried all... hotmail, gmail, yahoo etc.... now i dont need to sync anything with microsoft's monopolistic systems... the incredible power I am feeling on this device can only be felt after experiencing... i have 7 pages unlimited scenes in which I can customise each and evrything I want on my phone... any contact, any program any settings, where I want it, not where the the phone wants it... Its the OS I am in love with not the device.... devices will come and go... but right now its the best we have.... experience will only be better on cdma nexus one but thats tomorrow... so live today... Mufaddal 678 Report post Posted January 11, 2010 lol generic wars between windows mobile and android btw FYI i used both touch diamond as well as touch pro before coming to hero infact just only after getting my palm pre , htc diamond went in my closet and i never used it again i would anyday trade HTC diamond for HTC hero or PALM pre i have given up on windows mobile , its just too old and sluggish , now its high time microsoft needs to revamp its os windows 6.5 is nothing but a stupid gimmick to pacify angry windows mobile loyalists who are pissed off by microsofts sluggish progress in releasing windows mobile

dkaile 1,051 Report post Posted January 11, 2010 (edited) Some good and some BAD reports - 1. Found very good option for editing my txt files (thats my alternative to notes for wm) - called simply textedit; download from Market... Also has a full fledge notes application inbuilt... 2. Very good File manager (explorer) - Linda (what a sexy name) File manger.... Now the bad parts- 1. There is some issue with bluetooth transfer of files aka iphone... I have searched a solution; will test it and post soon... it shud be solved; wireless hansfree etc. is perfect... 2. The default IM is not signing into yahoo and windows live messenger due to blockage issues with those respective companies... (LOL - They hate Google)... There are however lots of 3rd party softwares which enable you to log in... will post some good ones soon... And there are 20000+ applications available in market.... main to dhoondte dhhondte thak gaya hoon... lol... Edited January 11, 2010 by dkaile
lijodavis 1 Report post Posted January 12, 2010 (edited) I have few problems with Hero: 1.If we had a missed call, sms, schedule the green LED starts blinking but after five mins it stops blinking, any method we can make it as palm.(it will blink until we clear it) 2.Any solution for bluetooth file transfer?I tried Bluetooth File manager from market, but i am getting a message that hero doesnot support it. 3.Can we make sms display in screen itself like treo even in sleep mode.I installed smspop for it but its not coming up when in sleep mode. 4.I tried switch on data full time but when some one calls me they are getting engaged tone.Only when the phone is in dormant mode only i am able to get a voice call.when i am downloading an app or using google maps for navigation etc engaged tone is coming.is there a setting to change it? 5.Can you suggest some good softwares for call recording, phone backup, calender, video playback including flv and avi(better than built in player),music player etc. 6.Suggest a good rss reader which can use offline. I am using CAR MODE which routes our calls to speaker phone by default, useful when driving.DATA COUNTER Widget for data calls. SMS BACKUP and LINDA explorer was good apps. Thanks @dkaile.
