Indian wireless market is booming from last 2 years to be world’s 2nd maximum mobile population. There are 14 company playing in this field and competition is maximum. With intense Tariff war call rate is reduced to Half a Paisa per Second, cheapest in the World. This market is well ruled by DoT & TRAI. Telecom operators serve both on CDMA & GSM technologies, with 2 different association of COAI & AUSPI. Airtel, Vodafone, BSNL & Reliance are in top 30 telecom operators of the world.

We have summed up an tariff comparison of Pay Per Second with Pay per minute – how customer pay for their calls. This tariff comparison chart will also help to select best operator option for you. You can differentiate your usage pattern – longer calls or shorter calls and therefor you can compare your current operator with all operators’ tariffs. Clearly Second pulse helps to save some coins but per minutes calls with lower tariff for longer calls help you to save more.

Pay Per Second Versus Pay Per Minute, TelecomTalk’s Exclusive Tariff Comparison-:

Duration of calls (seconds) 50p/min (Reliance,BSNL, Airtel, Vodafone, S Tel etc)

# BSNL charged 49p/minute under all@49 plan

1p/sec (Tata Docomo, Aircel, Airtel, BSNL, Vodafone, Reliance, Loop, & all) 1p/2sec# (MTS Kolkata lifetime offer; Aircel, Idea, Tata Docomo with Rs45/month)

MTNL (Mumbai-Delhi)

Uninor 29p/min with ‘call setup charge’ of 39p per call Reliance Mobile’s Re1/3minute Tata Indicom’s Teen Pe Teen with 1p/sec

(CDMA)

30 50p 30p 15p 68p Re1 30p

45 50p 45p 23p 68p Re1 45p

60 50p 60p 30p 68p Re1 60p

80 Re1 80p 40p 97p Re1 80p

120 Re1 Rs1.20 60p 97p Re1 Rs1.20

150 Rs1.50 Rs1.50 75p Rs1.26 Re1 Rs1.50

180 Rs1.50 Rs1.80 90p Rs1.26 Re1 Rs1.80

200 Rs2.00 Rs2.00 Re1 Rs1.55 Rs2 Rs1.80

240 Rs2.00 Rs2.40 Rs 1.20 Rs1.55 Rs2 Rs1.80

275 Rs2.50 Rs2.75 Rs 1.38 Rs1.84 Rs2 Rs1.80

300 Rs2.50 Rs3.00 Rs 1.50 Rs1.84 Rs2 Rs1.80

320 Rs3.00 Rs3.20 Rs 1.60 Rs2.13 Rs2 Rs1.80

360 Rs3.00 Rs3.60 Rs 1.80 Rs2.13 Rs2 Rs1.80

400 Rs3.50 Rs4.00 Rs2.00 Rs2.42 Rs3 Rs2.20

500 Rs4.50 Rs5.00 Rs2.50 Rs3.00 Rs3 Rs3.20

600 Rs5.00 Rs6.00 Rs3.00 Rs3.29 Rs4 Rs3.20

# MTNL has 0.5p/sec (Half Paisa per Second) tariff, and odd and even figure of the call charges according to the call duration will be adjusted in next call.

why nobody looking for uninor tariff,

Unonor is clear winner for all call above 80second,

I think it is also beting 1p/sec, leave behind rcom's 1/3min,

Saves cost for 50p/min.

But just fail in front of 1p/2sec.

I think priorites for very short calls(less than 80second)

1 1p/2sec

2 uninor cal more rent Rs2/day, call charges of 29p

3 1p/sec

4 tata 3 pe 3, 1p/sec

5 50p/min

I think priorites for average(normal=short(100sec)+long400-600sec)) calls

1 1p/2sec

2 uninor 29p

3 tata3 pe 3 1p/sec

4 50p/min

5 1/3min

5 1p/sec

I think priorites for very Long(more than 350sec) calls

1 1p/2sec

2 uninor 29p

3 tata3 pe 3 1p/sec

4 50p/min

5 1/3min

6 1p/sec.

This shows that U must go for

2p/sec

or

uninor 29p(either callmore or talkmore).

1p/sec is is complete failure.

I love the 1p/2sec local call scheme and I have voted for the same...

But let me check out what-ever plans/connections I have now:-

1) 1p/2sec ---- YES, DoCoMo Prepaid with rs54/month + FullTalkTime recharges of Rs2500/-

2) uninor 29p, with call setup charges of 39p ---- NO, I dont like that call mole$ting charges $hit..

3) Tata indicom 3 pe 3free, with 1p/sec ---- YES, For long duration calls

4) 50p/min or bsnl's 49p/min ---- YES, My dad's postpaid BSNL with 15sec pulse incl. roaming

5) Rs1/3min ---- YES, RGSM PPC, for Long duration STD calls while roaming ;-)

6) docomo, aircel 1p/sec ---- YES, my BSNL postpaid 225plan

7) airtel, vodafone, idea's 1p/sec+1.2p/sec ---- YES, both Airtel & Vodafone

8, tata's indicom's Rs1/10min ---- YES, for ridiculously LONG OFF-NET calls (while NOT roaming) :rofl_200:

9) Virgin's 50p/min ---- NO, Because NO NEED for it..

10) Default Rs1-local+ Rs1.5-STD ---- YES, My wife's Jodi Postpaid BSNL plan...

Of all the above, I prefer 1p/2sec local calls... hope someone will bring that benefit even in roaming too within a month ot two :Riendo:

I would any day prefer RCOM's 50ps scheme. Because, My calling pattern is such. I make very few calls and generally it is for a longer duration. The 1re/3 min call rate is really disadvantageous for short calls spanning less than a minute.

Regarding Uninor, I would refrain from trying out any new operator for at least six months from the date of commencing services, after my terrible experience with RCOM GSM.

Also, I feel that the divide between these operators is very flimsy. For eg. if you talk one hour on 50ps scheme you pay Rs. 30, on per second you pay rs. 36 and for the 1re/3 mins you pay rs. 20. Agreed that all calls do not last for such long durations but still for people like me who make lesser calls a combination of the 50ps scheme + Rs. 80 voucher works great wonders.

I would definitely avoid Tata's pay per call, because Reliance has taught me for a change to hate conditions :)

Also 1ps/2 seconds is a strict no no becuase i dont prefer paying rentals.

@Vinayak your views represents those lakhs of users who use call phones for personal use having 1/2 numbers.

I fully agree that one would end up paying almost similar no matter what plan and schemes you opt for across operators. And even if there is a substantial difference in cost structure, the ongoing competition would surely bring that down sooner than later.

I predict a Aviation sector-like disaster in telecom sector too.
