Chirag 5 Report post Posted November 4, 2004 RIM Demolishes Talk-Time Concept - Storms Prepaid Market with Free Unlimited Local Calls - Yet another bonanza from Reliance Infocomm - Revolutionary Pre-paid Voucher of Rs 440 - Local Calls to any Reliance number, absolutely free - All other calls within circle @ 80 paise only - Families, businessmen, couples and friends can now talk to heart's content DAKC (Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City), Navi Mumbai, October 28, 2004 In a revolutionary move demolishing the very concept of Talk Time in prepaid mobile telephony, Reliance Infocomm has launched an unprecedented prepaid Recharge Voucher (RCV) of Rs 440-denomination that allows unlimited local calls to any Reliance mobile or fixed phone within the circle. The innovative Reliance Infocomm RCV is aimed at facilitating the large population of Reliance Infocomm subscribers who have heavy usage for local calls and wish to stay in touch with other Reliance Infocomm subscribers within their circle. Under the Rs 440 RCV, tariff for calls to other mobile and fixed phones within the same circle is pegged down at 80 paise a minute, while tariff for STD calls remains unchanged. The Recharge Voucher is valid for 30 days from the date of recharge. Announcing the launch of the new scheme, S P Shukla, President - Products and Services, Reliance Infocomm, said: "The Rs 440 RCV will be immensely useful to the Reliance IndiaMobile community which will soon be 10-million strong. The RIM community can now freely stay in touch within the same circle without any concern of talk-time cost. This is yet another endeavour by the company to realize the founder Chairman Dhirubhai Ambani's dream of taking the benefits of mobile telephony to the common man." The new, value enhanced product will particularly be useful for small business personnel, entrepreneurs in multiple locations and travelling sales personnel, apart from families with more than one RIM connection. Also, families of a large number of students who stay out of the city for higher education could constantly be in touch with them without having to worry about talk time limitations. Reliance Infocomm Ltd., a Reliance group company, is India's largest mobile service provider with over nine million customers. Reliance Infocomm has established a pan-India, high-capacity, integrated (wireless and wire line) and convergent (voice, data and video) digital network, to offer services spanning the entire Infocomm value chain - infrastructure, services for enterprises and individuals, applications and consulting. The Reliance Group, founded by Shri Dhirubhai H. Ambani (1932-2002), is India's largest business house with total revenues of over Rs 99,000 crore (US$ 22.6 billion), cash profit of Rs 12,500 crore (US$ 2.8 billion), net profit of Rs 6,200 crore (US$ 1.4 billion) and exports of Rs 15,900 crore (US$ 3.6 billion). Ashokjp 15 Report post Posted November 6, 2004 Guys wat about when u r on roaming.. in a new city Suppose lemme say my home city is A and my current roaming 1 is b Will calls to A be considered free or calls to b would be considered free or else wat would be the charges
RSumit 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2004 Now see, if A and B are in the same circle ( usually ur whole state) then calls from A to B, B to A & B to B will be local calls and local call charges will be levied i.e. RIM2RIM free & RIM2Others @ Re0.80p/min. But if A & B r in deifferent circles then calls from ur cell in B to others in A will be inter-circle calls (std) and will be charged at inter-circle rates: Rs.1.79/m Rim2Rim and Rs.2.49/min. Calls from ur cell in B to other phones in B will be local/intra-circle calls and charged as: Rim2Rim free & Rim2Others :Rs.0.80p/min. And all incoming calls to ur cell in B will be chargable @ of Rim2Rim inter-circle call rate.
Mohan 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2004 And One more news i heard today. But it is unofficial. Reliance will introduce add on recharge vocher..... what it means that the 440 voucher users will get this add on voucher for Rs 110 and gain the talk value of Rs 100. this add on is for only rs 440 users..... But if A & B r in deifferent circles then calls from ur cell in B to others in A will be inter-circle calls (std) and will be charged at inter-circle rates RSummit what abt the reliance slogan "Roam with Home Tariff rate"???? r u sure abt ur answer? did u confirmed it with cc???? i think in reliance even ur in roam u can make calls for ur home tariff rate..... so even if in roam we can still make free calls to our home circle rim but i dont know it is true or not i will confirm it with cc and post here for the solution..... But since ur home is in a different circle so calls to home circle will be inter-circle/std calls. The slogan ''Roam with Home Tariff rate'' means this. I had taken my postpaid phone (rim phone ofcoz) with me (roaming facility). I have a prepaid rim phone too. i recharged my prepaid phone with the 440/- bucks voucher. now when i was in mumbai , my parents used to call me from tht prepaid phone. and when they use to chceck the balance, they found tht the calls made were FOC (free of cosT). and even when there were no singals (in small stns from ahmedabad to mumbai and some places in mumbai tooo) there was no voice cut at all & i could receive calls too ... Its amazing man ... if i had my gsm phone half of my bills would be just to say hello ...hello..i cant hear you ..your voice is cutting ...plus paying approx 6/min where 1/- for rim (No Jokes I swear) Man RIM rocks !!!! god knows when the rest who abuses realize !!!!! Shabz 8 Report post Posted November 10, 2004 yeah your parents call will be free coz they r calling a local mobile We people do not abuse reliance because of this it has got good things and bad things but the matter is that bad things outweigh good things in matter of reliance Just think u have a problem with ur rim and call *333 90% of the time they will tell u that the problem will be solved in 24 hrs but if not then call again and if u call again u have to explain all thing to the new person
Saurav 22 Report post Posted November 10, 2004 This RCV is also applicable for post paid users? Will it be of any use to cu in plans 149, 249 etc? If yes, then what is the need to pay Rent of Rs 149/-. Why doesn’t reliance reduce the actual tariff plan instead of giving such offers?
chandramauli 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2004 (edited) its only for RIM pre-paid users ONLY !! (GSM ppl please do not get confuse ..it wont work on ur gsm prepaid) Edited November 10, 2004 by chandramauli

RIM does rock esp if u'r roaming. But unfortunately people have developed this avarsion towards RIM due to many reasons. First of it being the previous OVERBILLING casses, confused plans etc. 2ndly due to the 501 scheme u couuld see those two white RIM sets in everyone's hand...so everyone(even the vendor in the local train) has it so I should have something different...this how human mind works...the poor man's cell image. And at that time other handsets from RIM were too costly. Even Moonlight and others were launched but the damage had already been done. Next was its lack of handshake with other networks, lack of EMS (college guys use them a lot), stupid ringtones AND finally its numbering scheme. Believe me, I've got friends who appreciate RIM but at last say "It doesn't give u the mobile feeling...no 98 no. , no sim swapping to show off friends new handset as own etc" Such is the scenario in Kolkata among college guys is that when someone takes up a new connection they'll ask u 'which connection-Airltel or Hutch'. Recently with tariff reductions a lot of guys hv taken up BSNL connections but not RIM. Well RIM has to do something about its SMS size and rates and compatibility with BSNL in SMS. First of it being the previous OVERBILLING casses, confused plans etc.even when BSNL came into the mobile business for the 1st time they also faced these issues ... they also faced problems of one number 2 sims..._________________________________________________________________ 2ndly due to the 501 scheme u couuld see those two white RIM sets in everyone's hand...so everyone(even the vendor in the local train) has it so I should have something different...this how human mind works...the poor man's cell image. ppl shud grow up ...its high time .... even vendors are into business ..maybe on a smaller scale... but they are. and in this era of tuff competition everyone needs to be communicated properly.Reliance might have realised tht even these vendor ppl have the potential to spend. and it did click ... in a world when ppl are trying hard to fight racism and dicrimination... our gsm fellows are backing racism & discrimination thts realy sad in a way. Next was its lack of handshake with other networks, lack of EMS It was these other networks tht did not allow to hadshake with RIM.and as far as EMS goes ..almost all phones tht RIM give supports MMS and tht is not charged the way GSM operators charge.... its charged as am sms only.... Recently with tariff reductions a lot of guys hv taken up BSNL connections but not RIM. Well RIM has to do something about its SMS size and rates and compatibility with BSNL in SMS. After all BSNL is BSNL ... its not going to improve ... u may pay for less. ... but @ RIM we pay for the service, pricing , technology ....i dont think BSNL can give all this.My friends tooo bruoght BSNL connections for its cheapness and free sms... but when they truly need it in emergency .. BSNL lets them down .... @least RIM doest ...i tiold you abt my roam expericene with RIM Edited November 25, 2004 by chandramauli
