Person Killed In Mobile Battery Explosion

Recommended Posts

Source

A 32-year-old farmer was killed when battery of his mobile phone exploded at village Lohraura in Satna district , 486 km from Bhopal, on Sunday.

This is perhaps first incident of death due to mobile set explosion in the country , though several cases of injuries have been reported in the past.

The mobile set was Nokia 1100. Sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Nagod Suryakant Sharma said Srikant Saket was talking on his mobile phone standing close to a 5000 kv high-tension (HT) pole. Suddenly the battery of the mobile exploded, causing his fatal injury.

He died while being taken to the hospital. He is survived by wife and two children.

In rural areas, mobile users often prefer to talk on cell phone near electric poles. They believe electric poles help get better signals to mobile set.

Now I'm scared - what if my Nokia desides to go ka-boooooooooooom!?   :Confuso:

But I didn't understand - did the battery explosion have anything to do with the high-tension pole? I guess not....?  :confuse:

Really Sad news. My hearty condolense to his family.

But 5000Kv HV line? I think in India we have maximum 400KV Transmission only.

People should want to think that the electromagnetic waves from the HV line is more dangerous than the mobile signals. There are too many people living under the HV lines. Some studies shows that the electromagnetic waves generated by HV lines can cause skin cancer and other brain related diseases. Government should want to aware our people.

It is of course proved to be harmful... but then ignorance is bliss. I'd think the HT line may cause interference rather than any improvement in mobile transmission.

Mobile phone explodes, kills woman in Kadapa

Kadapa, Jan 25: A husband who called his wife from Kuwait never thought that the mobile phone connecting them would force them apart with an untimely and shocking death.

The 27-year-old housewife Lavanya, who was busy on a telephonic conversation with her husband J Ramachandraiah, was killed when her mobile phone exploded.

The incident took place on Saturday, Jan 23 in Lavanya's house in YSR Colony here.

The police said that the explosion took place as the woman was talking on her Chinese-made phone while charging it.

The woman who sustained burns after the explosion was rushed to the hospital, where the doctors pronounced her dead.

Apart from the fact that Chinese handsets are banned in India due to security reasons, there have been many warnings published and aired in the media against using the mobile phone while charging it as there have been many fatal incidents reported in the past.
