Low end CDMA handset experiences

Recommended Posts

I was using this set from last 1.5 years and I paid 1700/- rupees for that. It was working fine but from last 1 month, its behaving badly, its battery switches-off automatically sometimes. Sometimes when a call comes it switches off, sometimes it switches off silently when it is kept somewhere e.g my office desk. New battery costs 200-300/- but I have a policy of never ever to repair mobiles, just throw them and buy a new one because once a mobile is repaired, it goes into repairing mode forever.

Except of this problem this is a fine handset. The only other problem is a single SMS is limited to 160 characters when the standard is 300, hence a normal SMS comes in 2 parts . I used this phone a lot, I talked non-stop on it for hours and I never had a problem at all. Hence I think I extracted 1700/- rupees in 1.5 years and I have no regrets that its gone now. I sold it for 300/- to some guy, yes I told him the issue, and bought a Samsung Hero (Super Hero ?) worth 1400/- just yesterday.

CDMAs have 2 worst points:

  1. Customer Care (CC) service of the connection providers is sh*t. Reliance, BSNL and TAT Indicomm's CC guys are sh*t.
  2. Handsets are very expansive. A good quality CDMA handset will cost you around 5-6K. I am not talking about colors, Bluetooth or FM. NO, they are features, I am talking about hardware quality, which is worse. Look at NOKIA 1203 I bought yesterday, prettu solid handset at just 1250/-

Problems after just 1.5 years and you still call it a "good" handset?   :Decepcionado:

Tell of some (not one but some) good quality CDMAs available for less than 5K. Now search for good quality in GSMs less than 5K range, you will find lots. If a 1700/- CDMA goes for 1.5 years, it enough. I also had one from ZTE earlier, cost me 1000/- and went out after 8 months, my friend had one from Hair which went out after 1 year. Indian CDMAs are sh*t, thats why I bought a NOKIA 1203 GSM, may be switch to it.

Dude i am using LG 3500, almost 2 years without any problem paid only Rs1350

LG 2030 still working good even after 3 years

Nokia 2280 working good even after 3 years paid only Rs.2350

LG 2330 working good even after 2.5 years.

So choosing a right phone is required.

:previous: Dunno much about current CDMA sets. The only thing I used while I was on RCDMA was LG RD 2030... the old warhorse.   :GirandoOjos:  Used extensively for about 4 years.... it was my 1st mobile phone. Even today, after more than 5 - 6 years, its working great, including its battery. Of course battery life has diminished, but it is still very much usable. Maybe you should throw all that trash and buy a 2nd hand RD 2030 instead!   :winko:

I'v seen some GSM handsets also, which are going great for over 5 - 6 years.

Friends please post your all experience about low end CMDA models. Price below 5K

Let every one know CDMA is good !!!

High end models may be good, As like my BB8830, 6275 etc...

but these low end models do play big part in CDMA

I am using my LG RD 2650 for more than 3.5 years. Absolutely no problems at all. Clocked more than 1235 hours of talktime (All call timer).

Really happy about my decision taken 3.5 years ago!!!!!!!!!!:)

I had purchased the phone for Rs. 1800

Is the original RD 2030 battery no longer available?  :o  Are you sure LG no longer has it in the market? How is the duplicate battery you are using? Made by? Any other info?

In my place Original battery for LG2030 not available.

I'm using ERD battery. My average talktime per day is around

1 hour & getting around six months.

You mean the battery lasts only 6 months with only 1 hour per day usage?? Not good at all. Anyway, does the battery at least look like the original from outside and fits well?

I had once said in this forum that I find the low budget cdma phones going the distance as compared to the high end ones.

Simplicity does last long.
