savramesh 37 Report post Posted January 21, 2010 Source Opera range of mobile browsers are the most visible set of apps amongst Indian mobile subscribers so much so that even some Indian telcos officially endorses its products. Today Opera announced that it has acquired Admarvel, a company providing solutions in mobile advertising space. The acquisition despite being small at $ 8 Million will provide Opera a way to monetize its mobile browsers – Opera mini and Opera mobile. Opera has been able to garner consistent share in mobile browser segment despite lackluster performance on desktop browser front. Admarvel’s product offering allows mobile Ad publishers to target users on the basis of countries, devices and carriers. Admarvel is a very interesting proposition for mobile publishers because they can easily target smart phone users more aggressively at the same time neglect small handset owners so as to avoid any ire. Opera in recent time has ventured into tie-ups with telcos across the globe. This acquisition could thus help it to serve its telecom partners by providing analytical & user targeting services directly . Google,a few months ago acquired Admob whereas Apple just gobbled up Quattro Wireless, another mobile advertising company. Mobile internet advertising spend at the same time is forecasted to touch $2 billion worldwide by 2014. This unprecedented global rise in mobile advertising segment has already attracted companies like iVdopia, creating niche in app advertising segment – predicted to be major receiver of mobile ad spending as handset makers facilitates higher app usages to corner market share.
