Saurav 22 Report post Posted January 24, 2010 I am thinking of purchasing a netbook. With google I found Atom N450 in Dell & Asus. Also found Dell 11Z. Now before purchasing I thoght to ge a valuable advise from rimwebians. My Budget max 20K. Will use it along with my Desktop. Basic purpose is ease to access Data, Web surfing, Excel & Word when desktop is not accessible either I am away from it or there is a power failure. Ease to carry & small on pocket. My Shortlist includes Dell Inspiron Mini 10 (Atom N450), Dell 11Z, Asus 1005PE. I prefered Dell 11Z. Pls suggest.
in.raghav 3 Report post Posted January 24, 2010 i am not recommending you acer, but i guess it is giving Reliance Net connect plus data card free with its netbook.
Arun 795 Report post Posted January 24, 2010 I would recommend the ASUS EE PC 1005HA even though it may cost a little over 20k. It (ASUS EEE PC 1005 HA SBL K01) got the highest rating in this month's Chip magazine Netbook comparison as well at Rs.21,500 with the bag/sleeve. Edit: maybe you can get it for less than 20k as I see a listing here for ~ 19.3k with shipping
dkaile 1,051 Report post Posted January 24, 2010 (edited) How about this - Acer Aspire One AO532H with NEW N450 + DataCard Free The Reliance Broadband USB datacard is free only till 26th Jan at only 17.5K, so u better hurry... i think u cant beat this offer or for that matter the Netbook.. I am using Acer AspireOne D150 (the older model) and can vouch for it... and this is an upgraded model with 8Hour+ battery life as this is with 6cell battery in comparison to 4 cell in mine.... ACS 130 Report post Posted January 24, 2010 We too are badly looking for a Netbook.. Heard about the HP Offer? "Buy any (Mini/Normal) laptop/PC & take home a Videocon 22" LCD @ Rs. 7999 extra" So any suggestions on a good HP mini laptop ? Also wanted to know which model of Videocon LCD are they giving.. anyone purchased yet ? This is the only tempting part actually.. provided the minis are good. Secondly, we vouch for CROMA.. all our electrical/electronic appliances have an extended warranty of an additional 2 years buy paying a very nominal amt compared to actual Company AMC/Extended Warranty.. Any other cheaper source.. Since netbooks are already low cost ?

::Hitesh:: 1,763 Report post Posted January 24, 2010 (edited) Go with Arun's Suggestion, I also recommend ASUS, My company owns 4 Acer one laptops, quality of the product is very poor, major issue with ACER One:- speakers, LCD brightness, keyboard, Battery dead after 6month. All above problem was solved by acer as laptops were in warranty, but after warranty god help us with acer repair. :Equivocado: ASUS is a good company comparing to ACER. Go for it. csmart 472 Report post Posted January 25, 2010 why you wont to go for netbook? from experience, i can tell you tht screen size is very very small. currently you will feel that its ok but within few months you will realise that its too small to work. you want to use word and excel, man its very difficult to work on word in such a small size. apart from good mobility, very light to carry nothing else. just think it over. rather wait for some time and increase your budget. its your personal choice. i wont recommend as i know how its becomes difficult work after 10-15 minutes. try using at some store for about 20 minutes and then see. there are laptops from acer/toshiba in 25k or so... Greatest 55 Report post Posted January 25, 2010 ^^ hiteshbhai, csmart is trying to tell the topic opener to not to go for a netbook, because after a few months of usage the user will find it difficult to use as the screen size is small. And then at the end of the line he is trying to say that NOTEBOOKS from toshiba/acer are available in around 25K

starnet 7 Report post Posted January 26, 2010 I have found that Croma is a good place to look and compare various products but is not a good place to buy anything because of very high prices. Before last Diwali, I bought saw a 32 inch Sony Bravia LCD. It was selling in Croma for Rs 36800 and in Big Bazaar for Rs 35900. The same model was selling at various shops including Sony exclusive showrooms for around Rs 29600. So I bought from a Sony exclusive showroom. Similarly everything in Croma is priced higher by at least 20%. If someone is in or around Delhi the one can buy very cheap netbooks in Nehru Place. A lot of notebooks with old model of CLU (Intel Atom N270 CPUs) are selling for under Rs 14000. One can easily buy a Samsung netbook for under rs 14000 at shop named "Cost To Cost" in Nehru place and they are giving free external DVD writer with some netbooks. Similarly one should visit local computer hardware market (if there is any) in your city to find the cheap prices instead of getting ripped off at Big Bazaar or Croma. Like 320GB USB Drive Nehru Place price 3k and Croma was around 4k and ezone was also around 4k same product same brand and same model. similary for the Whirlpool washing machine semi automatic price diff is around 1k. for some products I found CROMA/EZONE cheap like 2100MAH battery with charger most of the photographers are selling at MRP and not accepting the credit card. where as EZONE is giving some discount. and accepting the card without extra processing fee

I too bought a sony 32" T model (Side speakers) few months back for 37K @ Croma (+ 2K additional for 2 yrs extended warranty) but the official price came down within a few days everywhere including Croma.. Maybe its the same TV youre talking about.. Did you immdtly note the price difference or after gap of few days? Croma & EZone are definitely expensive in certain products/models in case you blindly trust them.. I make sure of always comparing at various shops to get an idea first.. only reason to go back to Croma is the extended warranty option. But read the ex-warranty booklet as few things might be excluded.. like ex-warranty for laptops doesn't cover Battery & Charger but all else. But in many other products like water purifier, vacuum cleaner etc. its similar to manufacturers warranty.. Well im a CROMA Guy ! csmart 472 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 i wont recommend to go to such stores like croma/ezone for computer related items. you get it cheap else in 99% of cases. i have seen that at times, vijay sales - "one day sale" or something turns out to be cheaper. but thats for that particular day and it is generaly sunday. for any PC related item, i recommend dealer or shops that we have at Lamington Road in Mumbai. you will surely find difference in prices

Maybe its the same TV youre talking about.. Did you immdtly note the price difference or after gap of few days? Price in croma was above Rs 35000 when I last checked in Jan 2010 first week and price in Sony exclusive was Rs 29000 approx in mid December, 2009. So the price difference remains the same approximately. A couple of weeks ago I saw Iomega brand external DVD writer (for use with netbook) selling in Croma for Rs 2900. I bought the same model in Nehru Place (Delhi) for Rs 2500 only. All netbooks in Nehru Place are cheaper by at least Rs 2500. The money saved can be spent on buying a data card or an external DVD writer. So more often than not significant price difference is there. But still it is good to check the prices at multiple shops/stores to get the best bang for our hard-earned bucks. It is not my intention to bash Croma. They are doing a very good job in displaying and product and give you an opportunity to touch and feel a product which most shops in Nehru Place etc. can't afford to do or simply just don't want to do.
