The more I read about the PlayOn! The more I realize that this is way way better. I have a couple of quick questions and I'd really appreciate it if you can answer them for me 1) How much did it cost you to buy it in India ?? 2) Did the chap from AqTronic give you any kinda discount ? 3) (Touch Wood)If this device goes crappy for any reason, is it covered by a guarantee ? If yes how long is the guarnte period ? 4) I understand that you live away from Bangalore, so this meant that you got it shipped to you. Did the chap from Aq charge you for the shipping ?? He quoted Rs 12500 for the Playon HD including the wifi Dongle and Rs 7700 for the Mini. Did you need to bargain hard on the price or did he offer it to you for Rs 10500 at the first shot itself. Dnz 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2010 Finally got the Mini Yesterday evening . I met Ranga Prasad at Aqtronics and got a decent deal for the Mini. Rs 7500, and it's worth every penny. With a firmware upgrade, it seems to have most of the features ( from the SW point of view ) as with the PlayOn. It plays nearly every damm thing thrown at it, with exceptions(H264 with over 12 reference frames), but heck yeah, how often do you encounter videos with specs like this, LOL ! It functions amazingly as a NAS, and also provides support for external optical drives( Available only with a Firmware upgrade). I only have a problem trying to get to access my shares from my Win7 notebook ( Yeah I did try everything that was mentioned in the How To guide on the AC Ryan Forum). Any other help on this would be greatly appreciated :-) Oh ..yeah .. the 7.5k did not include the N dongle. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

There were some issues with some previous updates and HDD had to be reformatted. first and foremost i would suggest you upgrade to f/w version 2901h... it is a hacked firmware... the hack is only for some extra space on root so as to load up third party s/w like optware and pod. further the extensions should be extracted from the latest yamj release. download the f/w and then from within it you can get the three latest extensions btpd, unicgi and samba. put the 2901h f/w along with three extensions on the root of a pen drive. ensure u use a freshly formatted pen drive for this purpose. while holding the power button on the pohd reattach the ower cable... the light will blink... keep holding for ten seconds or so and release... ud have a fresh install of new f/w and extensions all together.
