kshah 452 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 I do not see any option to sync notes either on active sync / gmail or desktop sync. Does any one knows?
dkaile 1,051 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 ^ What type of notes do you use? What I did was that I was using mostly text notes on WM; So I opened those notes files in word and saved them as txt files; Now I use a simple Text editor on Android and edit them both in my android phone and pc.... kshah 452 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 (edited) Note and tasks are very important features. They make life easy by jotting down many thing. I do not substitute tasks with calender or appointments. Nor notes with documents. Notes are just like WM / Symbian devices, part of your PIM - not office suite. None mentioned above meet my requirement with Outlook. I rely more on outlook than online accounts. I have too many account for every small job. How can we have different accounts for calender, mail and contact (gmail), note some where else, task some other place. try 3bananas. dkaile 1,051 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 (edited) ^ I repeat Kshah, what type of notes do you use, to help me suggest you a good solution.... Do you want your old wm/symbian notes into android or not? What I suggested is the best simple solution to all notes problem. I feel a txt file should be a universal medium for taking typed notes and backing iy up to your sd card + pc the simplest backup solution rather than using/relying on any 3rd party application (like outlook). Why Windows Mobile or Symbian did not think of it as default is their way of complicating things (and making money in the bargain). If you take scribble notes (pen/stylus based), I would suggest a solution to you for that also... Edited January 27, 2010 by dkaile
kshah 452 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 See what happen is for example I am in office and get some call, so I create note in outlook so that I can refer it as and when I want. When synced, I get my necessary references on handset too. Using other method means I have to ensure that I sync than another method too. Even when I am out side and if I make some note, its on my computer too. Nokia has Active Notes too, which I do not use, Active notes are HTML documents with links for mail ID, web site and phone numbers. One can insert images and audio too but since they are not synced I am not using. dkaile 1,051 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 Rather than creating a note in outlook which saves it in a "pwi" format which is quite restrictive in itself; what is the problem if u create a note as a text file? And with Android there is no need to use outlook to sync your calendars and contacts at all. In fact i have totally left using Outlook all together and now am TOTALLY ON CLOUD COMPUTING; which I feel is the best and the FUTURE of computing.... All my contacts and calendars sync with Gmail automatically and text files etc. are transferred as easy as 1,2,3... as and when I require them to be... even my SMS sync automatically to my Gmail account which was never possible with Outlook... See Kalpak, its just a matter of getting used to a new format of operating system... and trust me the sooner you shift to cloud computing the better; You can anyways access all your mails etc. anytime without internet connection also by using Offline mode also... dkaile 1,051 Report post Posted January 28, 2010 (edited) text file ke liye bhaiya, just COPY & PASTE... You can also use MyBackup Pro to backup and sync those text files between your device and sd card/pc. Also use a software like default notes program to sync your documents to Google Docs linked to your Gmail a/c... for SMS, I have already given name of SMS BACKUP for backing up to Gmail a/c and SMS BACKUP & RESTORE to backup and restore as well to your sd card (both from markt). In fact in the latter, it saves file as xml file which you can also easily edit on your pc and restore onto your phone...
