nayasaroj 14 Report post Posted January 28, 2010 (edited) Mobile users across the country would soon see yet another series of mobile numbers, possibly as early as February 2010. While the Department Of Telecommunication (DoT) has issued all almost all numbers starting with ‘9′ and ‘8′, the new numbers would start with ‘7′. All ‘9x’ levels ranging from 90 / 91 / 95 / 96 / 97 / 98 / 99 have been allotted to various operators (and levels 92 / 93 / 94 reserved for Tata Indicom/ Reliance Mobile/BSNL respectively) while among the ‘8x’ levels only some series (80/81/88/89) could be alotted to mobile operators due to several series already being in use for STD codes. Here’s a look at the 1st series of ‘7x’ series which would soon be rolled out:Circle Operator Code Andhra Pradesh Tata DoCoMo 7842 Bihar – Jharkhand S Tel 7808 Delhi Reliance GSM 7827 Himachal Pradesh S Tel 7807 Madhya Pradesh Reliance GSM 7828 Madhya Pradesh Airtel 7869 Orissa S Tel 7809 Punjab Reliance GSM 7814 Tamil Nadu Tata DoCoMo 7845 Uttar Pradesh (E) Idea 7860 So those of you crazy about numbers, especially the significant ‘786′ series, get ready to select your special number! source telecomtalk. sgiitk 32 Report post Posted January 28, 2010 The only problem is that as usual BSNL will take ages to recognise these numbers. My daughter in Kolkata is 9088.... I cannot call her on BSNL - Please check the number you have dialled or This number does not exist. Always engaged on Fixed! No problems with Reliance. Also she can call with no problems. I raised the matter with a DGM level person when he was here, he could not dial on his mobile as well - result she got a call from him checking on the problem and then Zilch. So those getting these new numbers must make sure they have no BSNL callers!

KanagaDeepan 1,084 Report post Posted January 29, 2010 If TRAI didn't control fake activations and FREE SIM distributions (even some are given with Rs50 TT too) then we will see all number series exhausted and mobile numbers moving to 11 Digit ones
