Arun 795 Report post Posted February 2, 2010 A server hardware upgrade/replacement is due this month. The server is currently in Dallas and we may switch locations if a better location can be found. So I would like to see your ping result to check the latency for different server locations and then decide based on the majority. Please send me a ping check result from your PC. To run a ping command (assuming you are using Windows OS), click Start > Run > Type: cmd > Press Enter > Type each of the command below (copy-paste will work) and press enter: Update: Server upgrade and move is already complete:

Arun 795 Report post Posted February 14, 2010 Thank to everyone who have sent the results. Out of the 31 results received majority had least latency to Washington DC and hence the new location is Washington DC! If you are reading this message then you are accessing RIMweb.in on the new server which has upgraded hardware specifications at the new location!

savramesh 37 Report post Posted February 14, 2010 the new location is Washington DC! in the morning i got a message from board to clear DNS cache.. hope it was because of this relocation..
Arun 795 Report post Posted February 14, 2010 Yes, if you saw the DNS cache message then you were accessing the old server at that time. If you are seeing this message then the DNS cache in your PC has updated and you are accessing the new server.

savramesh 37 Report post Posted February 15, 2010 (edited) After DNS relocation, sometimes rimweb pages are not loading smoothly.. i have to reload the page a couple of times to get it loaded.. btw i am using google dns, is it recommended ? Arun 795 Report post Posted February 15, 2010 I haven't noticed any issue like that, how often do you have to do that? I have seen comparisons being discussed with OpenDNS and OpenDNS had more takers.
