::Hitesh:: 1,763 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 ^^^ If it is XP Pro, it is relatively easy to do, first logon with Admin rights, go to My Computer, click Tools, Folder Options, scroll to the bottom and uncheck 'Use simple file sharing'. Ok out of that. Now here is where the administrative fun begins, go to start, control panel, select switch to classic view, click on users, add her as a limited access user and set a password. You may also want to set a password for yourself and the admin account (only if you have not done so yet.) For security, you may also want to select change the way users log on and off, and disable use welcome screen and fast user switching. When that is setup go back to My Computer and click on the f drive, look for any folder that has a hand holding it, this means that that folder is shared. Right click on the shared folder, click properties, click the sharing tab, select do not share this folder, repeat for all folders having a shared status. Last, right click on the F drive, select properties, then click security tab, first, click on the Everyone group and select remove. Now click on the users group and uncheck everything, now click on advanced, click on anything that says users and click remove. While there click add, advanced, find now, find your personal account and add it in and give it full control. Also, in this list, if you see anything for the group everyone, delete it. To test this out, logout and login as her and try to access the drive, you should get access denied. Remember, security is like door locks, they keep honest people out, since there are ways to overwrite it (like a linux Windows rescue cd for example, which would allow full read-write access to the ntfs drives, provided the user knows how to mount them in Linux) For added security, I would set a BIOS password (for the setup part only), disable boot from CD and boot from floppy, and disable boot from USB (unless your system boots from a USB drive). Just don't forget your BIOS password. Hope this works for you.
