dkaile 1,051 Report post Posted February 14, 2010 I would suggest Netgear... comes with 4 LAN Ports... good for normal size house... though range less in furthermost areas... My model was WGR614... though it must have been updated now to include draft N wireless... mine was just A/B/G....

As long as you have a secure connection, you can leave the network on for the whole day.

::Hitesh:: 1,763 Report post Posted February 15, 2010 (edited) ^^^ Giving access to particular MAC ID is always secure but can be implimented in home or small office setup. but WEP is very easy to crack so WPA ot WPA2 encryption are use full in big setups Edited February 15, 2010 by hitesh123
_Kailash_ 63 Report post Posted February 15, 2010 yes even using MAC is good but for a new Person i prefer WPA2 Its the best Actually...
Saurav 22 Report post Posted February 23, 2010 (edited) I am using Beetel WIFI 450 BX1 it has got 4 LAN ports WIFI & 1 RJ11 input port. My BB Provider HFCL Modem provides an output of RJ45. I hv just to connect it to LAN on PC and access Internet no Username & password are required. Is it possible that I provide the output from HFCL ADSL Modem to LAN1 on Beteel & connect Desktop on LAN 2 & Netbook by WIFI. Will it enable me to access Broadband on Both. If I experiment this are there any side effects? Edited February 24, 2010 by Saurav
::Hitesh:: 1,763 Report post Posted February 23, 2010 ^^^ there are two ways to go. 1) configure your broadband in Beetel WIFI 450 BX1 your laptop will connect thru WiFi thru LAN 2) connect your HFCL modem to LAN 1 and other connection as in option-1 but i will suggest go for option-1 it will save your one device .
Saurav 22 Report post Posted February 24, 2010 Dear All Thanks a lot for helping to connect PC to Netbook & Sharing Broadband. I am Now using Beetel 450TC1 WIFI Modem. I connected LAN from Modem to LAN1 on WIFI and RJ45 Cable from Desktop to LAN2. Netbook is connected by WIFI. For WIFI Security: 1. Added MAC of Netbook 2. Network name Hidden 3. Added a Password for Access. I think this solved my requirements to a large extent. Now the only problem is when BB is working on Netbook its slow / Error on Desktop. I think its just a setting problem for which your help is required.

Saurav 22 Report post Posted February 25, 2010 Settings for HFCL are not available & HFCL does not provide same. Power, Ehternet & Link lights are always on. Data LED sometimes does not glow when I get error.
::Hitesh:: 1,763 Report post Posted February 25, 2010 ^^^ you can just read setting from HFCL modem and make same setting in WiFi modem . also data led is not glosing means its a either conflict in two modems or line problem.
