Gsm Gives Pain In The Ear

Recommended Posts

I recently bought NOKIA 1203 and an AirTel connection. Before that I was using Samsung Hero CDMA handset with TATA Indicomm. I usually talk for 1 hour on phone. The problem with the CDMA was that heats up at and around the the part where incoming voice comes (the part you keep on ear). With GSM there is no heat up but I have observed an intense pain in the External Auditory Canal, see picture:

When I first used it I thought it was some mental phenomenon because I have read that GSM is bad for health. Next day I talked for 1.5 hours again on the other ear and again I got pain, it is not mental but real physical pain, it never happens when I use my Samsung CDMA for hours. Is it because of GSM handset or that that I bought a cheap handset (NOKIA 1203) ?

Man i dont think the pain is due to the GSM as such but may be due to the Handset

Even my friend using a low end nokia complained of low volume and felt uneasy on longer chat

he changed his handset and after that no complains.... so check with a another handset...

any way CDMA is more clear that GSM.. after using CDMA for 3-4 yrs now i dont feel comfortable talking in a GSM network... So its individual preferance

very true...

after using cdma now for almost since its launch, I tried using GSM from sometime on my new Nexus1, in an attempt to shift back to gsm due to such a good phone... But after using for a few hours, I jumped to conclusion to wait for the cdma N1... LOL... :P personal choice... no pun intended for gsm users...

This happen to many people. One of my friend had similar problem when he bought cheap Chinese dual sim phone. His problem disappear upon switching to Samsung phone. Radiation blockage require expensive metals so I doubt if shielding is good in cheap phone. Try using hands free for few days to check if phone quality is causing problem.

One thought being a biggie Nokia would adhere to health issue norms..But if what is being reported is indeed true, it should come as a wake up call..

Don't live in perceptions , remember there are products designed for India and made to sell cheap. AFAIK in India there are no standards applicable for SAR

SAhi hai i agree with you - waiting for some one with Gynac problems with photographs, LOLLLLL

any way all good standard Phone manufacturers follow noms as per European guidelines in which the volume of phone should not be more than specific decibels - remember HTC phones had a patch file to increase there volume, this noms state that high vol can damage ear, it has nothing to do with radiation.

these noms are not followed by lo cost handset manufacturer and you have the result in front of you (diagram of ear)

Same is the story with Ipod

i hope that never happens

it looks good only when normal , not in gyneac problems

btw

whatever phone u use all wireless technologies exposes ur tissues to high levels of raditions

now as to what are the bad effects of these raditaions , its too early to say , any radiations will have more pronounced chronic effects , for which window period is more than 10 - 20 yrs

Due to this radiation problem, I have started to use my landline, whenever I am in office.

Better to take some precaution than worry later

:previous: Wired hands-free is said to not help in preventing radiation, so beware!

I believe landlines are the safest bet. But now mobile tariffs are significantly cheaper  so my I use our landline only for broadband.

I switched to GSM after using RCDMA for about 3-4 years. Never noticed anything adverse after doing so. I'd suspect its most likely a handset issue and not a CDMA/GSM issue. Anyways, though it will of course not tell the whole story, have you checked the SAR rating of your Nokia 1203? Is it any higher than other phones? Also, IIRC, I haven't seen any siggnificant difference between SAR ratings of GSM and CDMA phones. Has anybody here noted a significant difference between the SAR ratings of handsets of these 2 technologies?

what ever you do, you cannot avoid radiations !

even you are not using cell phone, some one near you must be using it !, also even in air their are so many signals are active, no one can avoid them.

so better try to reduce it !

Nopes. Its not that simple. The wire ends up acting like an antenna... they say it may not make a significant difference if you use it either way.

It is correct.

I am using RCDMA for nearly 7 years and used different handsets.I even spoke for 3-5hrs continuesly but never faced headache or pain in ear.

Recently started using Tatadocomo, Idea,Aircel, Uninor with nokia phone. If i speak for 10 minutes or more my ear starts paining. If i use other ear same problem after 10-15minutes.

Actually i wanted to shift to GSM for better handsets. Now i am having second thought wether to shift or continue in CDMA.

I have noticed that talking for long duration is convinient only on CDMA.

On GSM it is very difficult to talk for more than 30 minutes.

Use Blue tooth Headphone from Jabra and keep the Phone at least 3 to 5 meter distance. In fact Blue tooth uses far less radiation compared to Actual Handset

Yes, especially the CHINESE cr@ps... No need to even mention about double or Triple SIMs of the Chinese cr@ps without taken SAR rating tested... :Equivocado:
