Arun 795 Report post Posted March 3, 2010 4 Mar 2010, 0019 hrs IST Economic Times Tata Teleservices (TTSL) on Wednesday said it would compensate the CDMA subscribers if its services failed to meet the pre-determined levels of standards. The service will be available to Tata Indicom subscribers in 20 circles with immediate affect. The move, which was announced to commemorate the 171st birth anniversary of Tata Group Founder Sir Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, would help the sixth largest operator in the country to retain customers, force others to follow suit and may trigger a new phase of competition in the world’s fastest growing telecom market. The Charter, a first-of-its-kind endeavour in the Indian telecom industry, is aimed at ensuring that customer service emerges as a key differentiator for telecom operators, said TTSL, which offers services on GSM and CDMA technology and has 60 million subscribers. The operator has committed to pay a penalty of Rs 25 per day if a disputed bill is not resolved in three working days. It will also refund 2.5% of the total billed amount for the previous month if a Tata Indicom subscriber faces call drops for more than 1.5% of the calls made in a current month. According to parameters set by telecom regulator Trai, a mobile phone user must not experience call drop more than 2% of the total calls made in a month. These offers are a part of the five-point commitment made by the company, which also includes replacement of handset in case it cannot be repaired over the counter and trial usage for value-added services. Last year, Tata Teleservices broke the traditional per-minute billing regime to introduce per-second billing in its GSM platform and this triggered off a savage price war in the telecom space here even as this model was copied by all leading operators including Bharti Airtel. Tata Teleservices kicked off a price war in the Indian telecom market after launching a per-second billing system for its GSM customers in mid-2009, which fuelled its subscriber additions in a price-sensitive market. This led to Tata Teleservices overtaking Bharti Airtel for six consecutive months till January in monthly customer additions, With the operator’s new initiative, the other incumbent players are also expected to step up customer-centric services.

Pinky 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 Kudos to TTSL...
raccoon 53 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 This should actually have been done for Docomo subscribers, they would need it more. Instead they have cleverly done it only for their already established CDMA network. I was at Nokia Care yesterday, and after making a call on my RGSM, the technician told me to try and avoid using Reliance GSM and Docomo.... as there are too many network and even SIM related issues with these companies and that I will get poor voice clarity and reduced battery life with them. They face these complaints from customers of these operators all the time.
KanagaDeepan 1,084 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 Raccoon Ji, always DONT CARE about what Nokia Care guys are saying... The problem facing by RGsm and DoCoMo is due to 1800MHz allotted to them (discussed so many times here in rimweb) and so the in-building coverage will be bad and hence the handset eats battery power while searching network indoors.. Lol... I know! In fact I mentioned exactly that to her... but did not get any response. However, there is one more factor - 900 MHz takes more power to transmit than 1,800 MHz. Anyway, you should come here and see the state of the network. Its pretty clear that the issue is not just about the frequency. Even Airtel uses the same frequency, and as of now Airtel has improved a bit and you can at least talk... but RGSM is in such a state that its almost unusable for voice calls. Even when you are outside where signal shows max, the voice clarity is dismal. RGSM network needs some serious work! Edited March 4, 2010 by raccoon
enjoylifewithsms 3 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 BTW how to find the rate of call drops....I experince them so many time but cannot count them!!!!
raccoon 53 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 (edited) I'v not experienced many call drops till now. However, they did seem more frequent while traveling. But now, since I complained, the signal intensity at my residence has degraded, and am also experiencing call drops. Haven't counted but they are now frequent. Friends have stopped calling me on my RGSM, as they have found it way too irritating... The network has become worse that what Airtel was until sometime ago (they have improved somewhat). The Nodal Officer and Appellate Authority phone numbers are either permanently busy or are not attended to if they ring. No response to emails. I guess just like Airtel, they are dummy positions to show that they are complying with regulations. Edited March 4, 2010 by raccoon
Honest 836 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 TTSL going great.
sougatadc 358 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 Have they already started to pay back? I checked my account (tataindicom.com/myaccount.aspx) and found that on the 'Outstanding Amount Due (Rs)' count there is an entry of '-30.25'. As I'm a regular bill payer ( I always pay the exact billed amount), this amount must be something from TTSL end that I'm getting rewarded. If it is true, then it will be some compensation for the call drops I experience.
