Is there Free Local Calls From Landline in India?

Recently I visiting abroad.In Many countries local calls from landline is free across country.Will it come to India?

It will be the case here too but the fixed cost per month would be high.

MTNL is already offering Unlimited calls to LL within Mumbai, I think.

Got it.. Plan 699 and Plan 799 offering UL Local MTNL and UL MTNL(Delhi+Mumbai) respectively.

Once the tariff war shifts to LL(hopefully with BB penetration) we can expect UL calls within BSNL network nationwide. :D

I think we can call free in India only with additional recharge vouchers.

But here in Bahrain, operators are giving promotions and offers without any additional vouchers. For example, with Zain Bahrain, zain@home customers can call other zain@home free for life long. And even they are giving minimum 30 minutes free calls to other networks per month.

in india call charges from mobile are already too cheap. also Relaince is already providing onnet free for local and STD

In India, calls from mobile are cheaper as compared to Landline..... so I dont think this would come. Also almost all the members in the family have mobiles now a days, so they dont even keep landline connection...
