While we are still dilly dallying over 3G, the world has moved to 4G and Beyond....

What can you do with 4G? Download files up to ten times faster than 3G. Experience 4G from Sprint and share five high speed connections for gaming or crystal clear video conferencing. Its more than a wireless network, its a wireless revolution. Sprint.com/4G

Now the question is should we not rally support for the cause to move straight to 4G?? (please no useless comments please, because we have had that by plenty)

I know that the majority will be voting for 4G implementation.

However, we fail to understand that we live in a country that does not even have a proper GPRS/edge system. The administration is corrupt and yes, you (or the neighbors wife) might be able to use them; but due to the high charges a good share of the population is least interested in such technologies. Not to mention the connectivity hiccups. Move from one room to the other - the connection breaks. Look at the bigger picture - try not to limit oneself to his (or her) own city.

Make technology affordable. For instance, look at the current broadband scenario of the country. The jokers aka officials fail to understand that access to a stable, high speed (not 2mbps) broadband system - without any speed caps or fair usage policy practices - is necessary for the country to develop. Well, they are not exactly dumb. Nevertheless, they are simply milking us. Please do not ask me for explanations.

Look at one of the latest development - DoT vs STel. When the courts rule in favor of STel, Dot asks STel to pack bags and leave the country? And someone tells me that we live in a democratic country?

4G is a distant dream. First, allow them to give us access to seamless 3G. Then we can start fighting for 4G.

Besides, it is of no use to compare India with other countries. Things run much differently over here. If someone wishes to utilize 4G, let them migrate to a 4G enabled country (at least for the time being).

agreed. things work differently in India. please be inform that SMS was widely major hit in India when it was in nascent stage in western countries.

the problem is 3 smarties (babus - govt. officials, minister & service providers) are looking for money. they dont care about user or providing better service. we all know who will be at loss if we directly go to 4g. this is the reason why dayanidhi was replaced by Raja. he was promoting 4g and got sacked. we cant even imagine in our dreams what these smarties think.

but yes, 4g will always helpful cos, users and also help country.. there all lot more things that can be done faster and cheaper..

We have to duck 3G right away otherwise 60,000 crore of infrastructure would have been invested in an outdated technology... we need to give 700 mHz spectrum to 4G... I will be writing to TRAI special committee shortly... We have to save India from this massive waste of money that we are about to undergo...

Well the play the is not on technology for the government but on the sale of spectrum. The more technology options the more spectrum available for sale, the more opportunity to do something that happens under the table.

^^^ Perfect

We usually criticize burocracy very easily but forgets that same burocracy is responsible to provide cheapest telephony in world. Why do we give benefit of doubt to operpators who are employing all possible techniques to delay auctions for 3G spectrum? And why forget security forces related departments who are not releasing radio spectrums?

With 1/20th income comparing our society with US or Europe is unjust. Even our consumer is at fault who do not want to spend even if when it can afford.
