sukhi 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 Just got connected by buying RIM Prepaid. I was Airtel MAGIC Prepaid user for about two year. I find nothing interesting about RIM Paid because it does not offer any edge over the MAGIC. Only temptation for mine buying RIM Prepaid, was that the handset comes free and I wanted one. I have not yet tasted the raoming. But it appears Reliance is not that good as Airtel, because at time people are not able to call me. More over I am not yet able to make the VOICEMAIL facility to work. What are your experience?.
sunil_jok 2 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 i cant say anything authoritatively, coz i havent used airtel much. and im a DAPO user. but i havent had much complaint with my handset. though i too have missed a few calls even when i was in range. what is ur roaming charge. did you ask bout that? i am sure you will get great benifit from that. you should call up the customer help line and they will help you in activating the voice mail facility. i havent used the voice mail yet and i dont know if there is any difference between post paid and prepaid
Chirag 5 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 Well, being a billing user i've used VoiceMail extensively for 4-5 months and it worked superb! but the only glitch was that calls wud get transfered to voicemail when there is a slight network problem also, meaning fraction of secs wud get a call to go onto voice mail and then i have to retrieve that msg by dialling *600 which went paid... though it was 40p/min for me...!! sukhi 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2004 Regarding HandSet, i.e. C131 seems to be ok, no problems yet. However I have seen it automatically restaring one or two times. Otherwise it seems ok. Regarding VOICEMAILs, I did tried their helpline. My voicemails are forwarding if I do not answer for some time. However when my handset is switched off, the calling party gets the message "FORWARDING CALL" and after sometime gets the message " THE PERSON YOU ARE CALLING IS NOT AVAILABLE" though it is expected that it should record the message. Reliance Network is POOR as compared to AIRTEL. If it does not improve, I may swich over to MTNL's TRUMP. Which has poor network but very economical. Any other User?? Yes I am from Delhi. Thanks sukhi

This happens when you have activated your divert and have not the set the right voicmail no. in the divert or when your voicemail is not activated.. I am having the old rim (not prepaid). Still.. After changing my no. i was supposed to activate voicemail once more.. but i dint know... At that time i faced the same situation.. When i called customer care, they gave me the no. to activate voice mail and then another to set divert to voice mail.. After tat it was ok..
jigar657 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2004 Friends, I have been using the voicemail facility right from when it started. and i find it pretty cool. and absolutely cheap for me to retrieve the voicemail (since i m a dapo member). Voice mail as far as i know works perfectly fine. I have also been diverting my calls to a gsm no. once when i went to a place without a reliance network. Worked perfectly fine there too. Well for all of u who want to do it here are the useful codes. *410 For activating Voice Mail Service *3033600 For diverting ur calls to Voice Mail *304 for deactivating ur call divert to voice mail When some one calls u when ur cell is switched off or busy or out of coverage, the call wil automatically be diverted to voice mail where the person calling can record his message. This u ll get as a sms. U can listen to the voicemail by dialing *600 then logging in by password 1234. But for prepaid users using voicemail can be quite expensive as retrieval will be charged 2.49 per min. Luv Jigar
