Hmmm...

Well, I was trying to use this phone (LG3540) for some other purpose (finding meid/min of ruim) when I saw that it got detected as a USB Modem also when I installed the drivers. So I presumed it has some sort of hardware for modem on board. It is also showing as LG USB Modem in Device Manager. So it definitely has a modem.

Now when I tried to confirm that it is working as modem or not, I could NOT connect to it; Maybe its blocked, or needs some extra initialisation string settings... more research needed...

Same apply to all LG models from RD 3500 onwards. I checked its BIN file too but there is no support for any AT commands. Till phone BIN do not support AT commands,, I think it can not be used as modem. I checked to see how it connects to RWORLD but could not find out. It uses BREW.

Guyz guyz , Just checked On corby !!!!

Sam1 works like charm with evdo, was getting download speed between 160-200 kbps.

Also used simple sim of my dapo , 1x works fine.

I m Happy, planning to shift my Dapo on OMH smile.gif

I already reported that non OMH sim is working in corby for netconnect/ and won't work for RWORLD.

R u getting EVDO speed with sam1 user name???

but even MDN username will also connect to internet,

I am confused.

Yes i am getting EVDO support/ evdo speed on sam1.

MDN works same speed as sam1.

See sam1 works great but if u have L1 then theres nothing to talk more about it !!!!

I hope you understood.

I have checked sam1 on my 995/- plan, dapo is on my old sim not on omh.

No EVDO will not work without OMH sim , as evdo data settings are contained in OMH sim only not in normal sim.

Password is : password GirandoOjos.gif

At Rs 3800 it appears costly than RCOM/TATA/MTS data cards which are available at Rs 2300 onwards. Except maybe for RUIM facility. and there is no brand name, it appears chinese or korean..Finally no mention of any warranty....

Correct me if wrong...

I am planning to purchase the LG RD 3540 phone.I am currently using the LG RD 2650 phone

I have a few queries:

1) Will NET CONNECT work on the 3540 by just connecting the USB cable or is some kind of tweaking necessary for that?

2) My main concern is my phone book. I have more than 300 contacts in my phone. LG RD 2650 being a non sim card phone is it possible to transfer my contacts into the RUIM card through the said data cable? I have manually typed all my contacts in an excel sheet. Is there any easier method of doing it?

Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!

I think you should read the above posts more minutely... 3540 does not support netconnect AFAIK...

Is there any RUIM enabled EVDO USB Card available or Can I transfer my Mobile Number on Reliance EVDO card.

One can buy Tata Indicom Plug2surf USB modems from any second hand handset dealer for Rs 700-800 only and start using it with a Tata Indicom CDMA SIM card without any programming or without searching for any cable. Similarly second hand Reliance netconnect CDMA2000IX modems can be bought at even lower rates.

Buying a handset for internet access only doesn't make a lot of sense now a days.
