Google launches tool for finding best online deals

With the help of this new technology, Google users will receive information about products and prices from more than 30 thousand Indian Internet sites

InformationWeek News Network, March 30, 2010

ShareThis Google India announced the launch of a new tool to find product information online in India. Google’s new shopping tool for India gathers information about products and prices automatically. The system scans millions of Indian Web pages and extracts product names, prices and images. With the help of this new technology, Google users will receive information from more than 30 thousand Indian Internet sites enabling them to research a variety of products in just one page.

To use Google’s Shopping tool, simply enter the product name into the search box at www.google.co.in. Then, on the results page, click on the “Show Options ...” link located above the search results and select “Shopping”. Once you start seeing shopping results, you can customize your filtering options as required.

Commenting on the introduction of this new tool Vinay Goel, Head of Products for Google India said, "Our research shows that online search has become an integral part of the product purchase decision process made by Indian users. Consumers on an average spend 35% of their time researching for products online before they make a purchase decision. This new tool is designed to help users make decisions faster and find deals online enhancing their research experience.”

^^^ Google has created such a fame for itself, that whatever it creates/makes, it is being believed by everyone... This is called as 'Start of the downfall of a great company'....

Once they realize that people are slaves of their products, its the start of the end for them...

Take it or leave it, Google will be nothing by 2018...

I strongly disagree; Google unlike other super-big companies HAS NOT turned megalomaniac.... and hence retains the FREE and OPEN SOURCE soul in its operations...

Such companies can never die out till it changes from this basic ethos...

^^ Thats what I basically wanted to convey.. hey are slowly changing ethics inside the organization.. Its not the top management who is responsible for this.. Its the lower level people responsible for this..

Look into China Google.. and now Vietnam... 2018 is far far away.. Its a very slow moving process... Google is the next Ford, GM, and DELL... :)
