sunilj75 9 Report post Posted April 26, 2010 Today i received a message from Reliance as "Dear Customer, to prevent your number from misuse, pls dial*228 and follow the voice instructions. Thank you for your co operation. Reliance" I followed the same on my Sprint BB 8330, but my phone gives error that SPL unlock failed and could not activate your phone, please contact reliance custmer care for further assistance. My phone's all function working all fine, but i wonder if reliance is upgarding its security in its network to make it difficult or impossible to use imp*orted handsets. Rim Guru's pls throw some light on the issue. Thanks in advance. Mods pls post this topic in apporopiate section.
manishashar 6 Report post Posted April 26, 2010 Same here... I tried calling *228 and heard that the number was for activation. Later I called Customer Care. They do not have any clue. As per their understanding "You need to dial *228 for HCC, etc."

::Hitesh:: 1,763 Report post Posted April 26, 2010 (edited) Friends, If you are on reliance and using imported non sim mobiles, dont do *228 from your mobiles, use the original sim card for doing any communication to reliance, communications like *228 or visiting to reliance WW etc. EDIT :- if it is for AKEY as Dr said, then dont follow my instructions. Mufaddal 678 Report post Posted April 27, 2010 well from what i understand reliance wants to put akey in full use *228 is not only for prl but for lot other important parameters like SSD/AKEY when u do *228 the handset send akey to tower switch and when u make next call it gets registered with network till now only esn and min were used by reliance network for autehtication and calling , but if my fear comes true , reliance might add akey along with esn/min to autehnticate a user on network

Mufaddal 678 Report post Posted June 4, 2010 at present the CAVE authentication hasnt been fully implementEd by reliance but it will sure come when they will release EVDO for all handsets ( CAVE AUTHENTICATION IS USED TO PREVENT CLONING OF EVDO NETWORKS)
doc_anurag 46 Report post Posted June 4, 2010 at present the CAVE authentication hasnt been fully implementEd by reliance but it will sure come when they will release EVDO for all handsets ( CAVE AUTHENTICATION IS USED TO PREVENT CLONING OF EVDO NETWORKS) Suppose we do get a call from Reliance to confirm out handset details etc. what should we tell them, about our original handset or just act like a dumb user who has no information. @mufaddal As these calls\sms seem to be becoming more frequent it would be really helpful if u can post a standard reply which all of us can use so as not to compromise the future use of these handsets on the reliance network.
