prawin 2 Report post Posted April 30, 2010 Just when people though CDMA was dead this is great news for all The voice-centric CDMA2000 1X is evolving to 1X Advanced, which quadruples the capacity of today's 1X networks. This unprecedented capacity increase afforded by 1X Advanced can also be used to free up spectrum for high revenue-earning EV-DO data services or to achieve up to 70 percent increase in coverage. 1X Advanced is expected to be commercial in the latter part of 2010. Simultaneous 1X Voice and EV-DO Data (SVDO) is a complementary device enhancement that will significantly improve the user experience without impacting standards or infrastructure. SVDO allows devices to access EV-DO data services while in an active 1X voice call. DO Advanced benefits: •Higher network capacity and an enhanced user experience through “Smart Network” techniques •Simple software upgrade that benefits existing and new devices •Increased connection-capacity and better congestion management for applications such as “push” mobile email •Enhances performance of all deployment scenarios: single carrier, multiple carriers, Rev. B/Multicarrier, macrocell networks and advanced topology networks •Further improves performance by leveraging advanced devices, without impacting infrastructure or standards source : qualcomm source link :http://www.qualcomm.com/common/documents/white_papers/Whats_Next_For_CDMA_111109.pdf

chitshar 25 Report post Posted May 1, 2010 MTS to Adopt CDMA 1X Advanced for its Indian Network India's Sistema Shyam TeleServices (SSTL), which trades under the MTS brand name, announced its plan to adopt CDMA based "1X Advanced" technology to support its growth plans in India. Says Mr. Vsevolod Rozanov, president and CEO of Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited, "The unprecedented voice capacity of 1X Advanced will allow MTS to efficiently support more voice demand within the same spectrum, and offer high speed EV-DO based broadband data services in times to come. With interference cancellation and radio link enhancements, it will help MTS get more voice capacity over the same spectrum in future." 1X Advanced has been standardized by Third Generation Partnership Project 2 (3GPP2) in June 2009 and is expected to be commercially deployed in 2010. 1X Advanced uses the same spectrum and bandwidth as CDMA2000 1X, and significantly improves coverage and capacity with the same resources by employing cutting edge interference cancellation techniques as well as enhanced radio configurations. These improvements include base transceiver station (BTS) interference cancellation, enhanced power control, early frame termination, and smart blanking. "We congratulate MTS India for being the first CDMA2000 service worldwide to adopt 1X Advanced. This latest release of CDMA2000 1X technology will enable MTS India to meet its ambitious goals for 1X voice services while introducing EV-DO data services," said Mr. Kanwalinder Singh, senior vice president of Qualcomm and president of Qualcomm India and South Asia. "We will work closely with MTS India and our OEM partners to deploy 1X Advanced and keep MTS India's network on cutting-edge quality and economics for voice and data services." India is the second largest CDMA2000 market after the US with a subscriber base of over 100 million. MTS India is the only new entrant having license to operate in all 22 telecom circles across India. It currently has 1.7 million subscribers across six circles in India and has plans to complete the pan India roll-out in 2010. SSTL is a joint venture between India's Shyam Group and Russia's Sistema, which controls Russia's MTS mobile network operator. source http://www.cellular-news.com/story/39393.php
ACS 130 Report post Posted May 1, 2010 Does 4 times strength & 70% more coverage translate into even more worse radiation effects ? Anyways, it will translate into better coverage & fewer BTS towers from being erected. GSM operators.... CRY !

::: VA ::: 531 Report post Posted January 23, 2011 ^^^ SVDO --> Simultaneous Voice and Data Optimised After reading through some other forums it seams SVDO is a handset feature and not a network feature. CDMA is already the ideal choice for data and if voice and data together becomes a reality, there is no competition till LTE is a reality, sorry to disappoint you people here but SVDO is a handset and network feature. Once CDMA development group roles it out to service providers then we can expect it. But saddest part none of our current gen handsets are compatible. Exclusive handsets will be manufactured with SVDO capability. it seems this drawback will force lot of cdma fans to switch to gsm with 3g. as what good is EVDO speeds if it cant be simultaneous with voice calls. Karthik R 246 Report post Posted January 24, 2011 Though no changes to network infrastructure is necessary to implement SVDO, for the phone to make use of this development, it need to have specified chip inside. Guess what, even the newly launched Verizon iPhone4 does not support SVDO!

kesav 127 Report post Posted January 27, 2011 Data Roadmap 1x --> EVDO Rev. 0 --> EVDO Rev. A(VORA) --> EVDO Rev. B(VORB) Voice Roadmap 1x --> 1X advanced In single antenna handsets, either Data carrier or Voice carrier can only be active. SVDO:: In Dual antenna handsets, it's possible to access both carriers simultaneously and that method is called SVDO. VORA/VORB:: Voice over EVDO. It's basically layering voice inside data channel similar to VoIP. Since voice & data are moving in same carrier, this can work in single antenna handsets without need of accessing 1x voice carrier. DO-Advanced:: It's an upgrade which can be applied either on EVDO Rev. A or EVDO Rev. B to improve the respective performances.
