The pre-4G technology 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) is often branded "4G", but the first LTE release does not fully comply with the IMT-Advanced requirements. LTE has a theoretical net bitrate capacity of up to 100 Mbit/s in the downlink and 50 Mbit/s in the uplink if a 20 MHz channel is used - and more if Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), i.e. antenna arrays, are used. Verizon Wireless has announced that it plans to phase out its CDMA2000-based EV-DO 3G network in the United States in favor of LTE. AT&T, along with Verizon Wireless has chosen to migrate toward LTE from 2G/GSM and 3G/HSPA by 2011.[3]

LTE Advanced (Long-term-evolution Advanced) is a candidate for IMT-Advanced standard, formally submitted by the 3GPP organization to ITU-T in the fall 2009, and expected to be released in 2011. The target of 3GPP LTE Advanced is to reach and surpass the ITU requirements. LTE Advanced should be compatible with first release LTE equipment, and should share frequency bands with first release LTE.[4]

WiMAX

The Mobile WiMAX (IEEE 802.16e-2005) mobile wireless broadband access (MWBA) standard is sometimes branded 4G, and offers peak data rates of 128 Mbit/s downlink and 56 Mbit/s uplink over 20 MHz wide channels. The IEEE 802.16m evolution of 802.16e is under development, with the objective to fulfill the IMT-Advanced criteria of 1 Gbit/s for stationary reception and 100 Mbit/s for mobile reception.[5]

Sprint Nextel has announced that it will be using WiMAX as its 4G network.

though I doubt very strongly, that you will be able to point out any significant difference in the video even as on date's resolution...

I truly agree that but only if the video is played back on Phone itself, If it is played on TV through the Video Out option, I am quite sure we will be able to see the difference

nd Evo DOES NOT have 8GB on board memory; Incredible does....and ROM is used for internal programs storage hence in effect Incredible has 8Gb+512MB ROM in comparison to only 1GB on Evo...t

HTC incredible has only 512 mb rom

for apps memory only rom will be used , ie only 512mb for apps

8gb is internal storage , much like 8gb sd card

on the other hand EVO has 1gb rom

so 1gb app memory

so incredible has 512mb and evo has 1gb app memory /rom

but incredible has 8gb for internal storage for media , whereas evo doesnt

well the good news is that FROYO , the next update to eclair will be having the ability to install apps to sd card , so we no longer need larger rom memory

3 Things that are now pulling me back are 1. AMOLED, 2. trackball, 3. and most important Delay in launch.

These were needed. I dont really give concern to the the internal storage and I am not a big fan of installing loads of softs.

also remember TFT consumes more battery than amoled; hence even with a 1500mah battery the talktime of our Hero is just 250 minutes (which has a TFT screen) while with a 1300mah battery the rated talktime of Incredible is 313 minutes...

Sir, not trying to argue but just felt curious as to which is more important while comparing power peformance stats of devices,

I found that Incredible has standby time of only 146hrs vs 360hrs of hero. I am using hero just like you but never get more than two days with moderate use. so with less than half the standby time incredible might not last through the day !!!??

These figures are published with actual usage, data and network services offered and vary by testing procedures employed by different network (in this case Sprint and Verizon). Both networks have different testing procedures employed to test standby times. Rated Talktime is a better gauge of actual battery life.

Final results, I will be able to give after I get the Incredible in hand, but you can expect quite similar battery life as of Hero. Under my usage pattern, I think, the incredible will last out a day... as with any smartphone in today's day and age, battery life is one of the compromises you make for so much technology in your hands.

The Shack Accepting HTC EVO 4G Pre-Orders End of May

It looks like The Shack, by fame of Radio Shack, is listing the Sprint HTC EVO 4G as coming soon and may be taking pre-orders for the much coveted HTC Sense Android device with 8-megapixel camera and HD video capture at the end of the month. The EVO 4G was announced by Sprint at CTIA and the carrier has demonstrated a number of cool things with the device, including support for a 4G network connection where available or 3G for everywhere else, a mobile hotspot app to connect up to 8 devices to the same mobile broadband connection, and the ability to capture, stream, and share high resolution videos on the device's Internet connection.

Hehehe Sumit Bhai is really obssessed about HTC EVO.

With a price tag of 450$ only i guess its going to be INCREDIBLE killer.

Now Even I want to wait (June 4 only(20 days to go)) for EVO reviews (especially concerned about its SIZE n WEIGHT), I really dislike my PPC 6700 for this specific reason only(hard to get it out of my pocket when I am driving. But I guess EVO wont even fit into my pocket. lol

Seems like this phone is customed made for The Hulk or Saboo (of Chacha Choudhary)... lol

Same reason I shifted from 6700; I cant believe I bought it from reliance for 33K... Bulkiness is BIG ISSUE for me... even 6800 was very bulky... It was only when I cam to Hero, I realised how much you can enjoy in a smaller package size... Nexus 1 is still tolerable as its thin and light... LETS SEE...

but no doubts, EVO will be the best phone (err mini tablet) around...

I too bought PPC6700 from Reliance for 33K

But thanks to it. Because of that phone I came across this forum and came to know taht Imported handsets too works on CDMA

BTW Mufaddal bahi, how is Incredible to carry around? I mean its portability.. easily tollerable to carry into a jeans pocket? or do i need an assistant to carry my phone for me (like in case it wud b if i purchase EVO.. lol)

And i guess prices of Incredible(in US market) will surely fall once Evo hits the market. So i guess its better wait.

incredible is thin and is easy to carry around , u cant guess the size of by its pics

HTC Incredible have 8GB ROM but only 748 MB used to allocated For ROM and other do Normal Data Partition

But Once Root come I am sure we can Shoot ROM size to Full 7.4 GB by Creating Larger EXT3 Partition

whereas Verizon Incredible costs $529.99 in (without contract and without any discounts)

But with contract both phones are available @ $199.99

I think primary focus of Sprint is to encourage people to avail for Expensive 4G services.

so for people who will buy this on contract 199$

they will have to pay extra 10$ every month in their bill as premium charges for using this device

so effectively its 199$ on contract plus extra 120$ per yr as premium

now if they are going to charge premium on contract , then i feel the same for non contract based evo

thats why let it first release to get 100% clear idea of pricing
