Recommended Posts

After making an entry into the market here with its Microsoft Windows-enabled mobile devices earlier this year, Australian company E-Charge has now launched what it claims is the world's smallest such device, the Krome Intellect IQ 700.

Targeting the device at executives in the corporate sector and business owners, the company also announced an introductory offer of a free Bluetooth headset worth Rs. 3,000 with the model. It also plans to double the dealer network to 1,000 across the country.

Priced at Rs. 26,999 the IQ 700 offers Microsoft Windows features like MSN Messenger, Outlook Express, Internet Explorer, organizer, camera and Windows Media Player. It comes bundled with the RepliGo software worth Rs. 1,000 free. The tool enables users to view documents.

Speaking at the launch, Karan Narula, CEO, Mercantile Pacific Group, said, "The launch of Krome in India underlines our recognition of the need of the hour. We are pleased to present the combined power of Telecom and IT through a unique, convergent solution with Microsoft that will change the way Indian business leaders and SMEs manage business communication and their lives."

The IQ 700 weighs 100 grams and a 108mm x 46mm x 16mm frame. It runs on 1050 mAh Lithium Ion battery.

The Krome range also includes three more mobile devices, Windows-enabled and compatible with GSM and CDMA networks. Priced between Rs. 17,499 and Rs. 35,999, the three devices will be sold under the names of IQ 200, Krome Navigator F1 and Krome Navigator F2 CDMA.

E-Charge is a subsidiary of the Mercantile Pacific group of Australia, a distributor of mobile handsets there. The company said it would invest Rs. 50 - 60 crore to market its high-end Microsoft Windows Enabled handsets. E-Charge is targeting selling 80,000-1 lakh handsets in the next one year.
