arungoel 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2004 Dear friends I have a samsung SCH 191 phone and have been using it as modem for nearly one year now. I installed the drivers (USB) on my laptop and the phone worked well. Something got corrupted while I was using the phone and I tried to reinstall the drivers after uninstalling. The reinstall has not been successful. The software first says the drivers install successful and then says the driver installatation failed and does not proceed to stage of connecting the phone. I have tried hard to correct this problem but without any success. The phone and CD are working fine on my desktop. Arun
Vishal Gupta 4 Report post Posted December 1, 2004 (edited) I think u r working in Windows XP. cauz i've faced this problem many times in XP. It usually occurs after installing service packs for XP. First try to uninstall the service packs in Add/Remove programs under Control Panel. If there is no entry for service packs, then repair the windows using Windows XP bootable CD. anujit 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2004 You need to download the latest version of the R Connect software - 2.0 I think. You will find the uninstallation process detailed there.... you will have to edit some inf files & delete some dlls before reinstalling R Connect Software. Why they couldn't give a decent uninstaller nobody knows!
Arun 795 Report post Posted December 9, 2004 arungoel, I faced the same situation once, and unfortuantely, I couldn't find a solution for it. It could be either a problem with the USB port or the connection end of your cable. Finally, I had to buy a new serial data cable.

(the one with the blackbox in the cable) then it is simply a matter of obtaining the latest driver for the USB<>Serial convertor.. check it out in your Hardware Profile and see if it is showing you any yello flags there.. if yes then get a new FTDI USB<>Serial driver. It should work. Yes, I do agree that this mess could have been caused by the SP updates because the Reliance provided drivers are not certified to be XP compatible by microsoft.. can't do much abt it. anujit 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2004 I've used my Samsung 563 with Win XP SP2. No problems there. If you're having troubhe with RConnect software why dont you just skip installation of the software and just install the device drivers. To do that just attach your phone via the usb cable to your computer. XP will detect a new device and ask for the phone drivers first. Just point it to the "drivers" folder of your RConnect installation software. Then it will detect a CDMA Modem and again ask for drivers.... point XP to the same folder. Finally set up a manual connection in your network connections. Select your phone as your modem, dialing number as #777 & give both your username & password as 93xxx xxxxx (i.e. your mobile number). And you should be up & running.
jusmail 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2004 As instructed I pointed the drivers and the comp says that the drivers were installed. FTDI usb serial converter drivers appears in the list of programs too. However, the phone is not displayed in the list of modems that one can view under "phone and modems" in the control panel. Just for the record, I use XP Home, SP2. All help is appreciated
