mohandas 2 Report post Posted December 5, 2015 Good news for Reliance Mobile Customers: From January they will be able to use Reliance Jio’s 4G Subscribers of Anil Ambani’s Reliance Communications Ltd may be able to use 4G services from January 2016, thanks to the sharing and ICR agreement with Reliance Jio. As reported earlier, Mukesh Ambani’s Dream project Relaince Jio is scheduled to launch its service by end of December 2015. After Jio launch Subscribers of Reliance Communications will be eligible to use Reliance Jio’s 4G network and Reliance Jio Subscribers will be able to use RCom’s 2G and 3G networks. Though the two companies have said that they have sharing agreements in place, the exact details of these agreements have not yet been made public. Without Anil Ambani’s 2G and 3G network, it’s difficult for Reliance Jio to attract customers very quickly. Reliance Communications, which recently announced the takeover of MTS, has plans to launch its own 4G network by June 2016. After launching own 4G network RCom may not need to use Reliance Jio’s 4G network. RCom’s 4G network will offer superior indoor coverage in most places because of the spectrum that it will use compared to all other 4G networks in India. I don't have much details other than this setup would be used for supporting WiFi signal for a radius of 300 meters. It supports triple play - broadband internet (4G), phone (possibly mobile signal) and TV. This kind of Reliance towers are installed at Medical College, Kozhikode (Calicut) in June 2015. They are transmitting Wi Fi in 4G speed. There are 3 towers in Medical College Campus. There are a number of towers in different parts of district. Kozhikode district is declared as Wi Fi district by District Collector. Speed of Wi Fi is excellent but transmitting radius is poor, 100 to 150 meters only. amitroutray 384 Report post Posted December 8, 2015 Reliance Jio already started their WIFI called Jio Net in my city Bhubaneswar from 5 - 6 months. presently installed one of the University called Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology (OUAT). WIFI Routers are also installed few other Universities, Tourist places & few Parks. work is going on. I think It's a comes under Orissa Govt's smart city proposal. ami1 237 Report post Posted December 9, 2015 If even RCOM customers are going to get 4G by Jan 2016 then it will be great ! I got one RGSM number ported to Airtel just to try out their 4G speeds and it's quite good. Around 45 Mbps on iphone6 and 35 Mbps on laptop x220 Only problem is that if a call/sms comes then it switches to 3G and goes back to 4G only after some time and occasionally I have to do a radio switch off-on to get it back to 4G.
