SUDYEcaZ 67 Report post Posted January 13, 2016 Bad news for RCOM CDMA customers if below is true. Mukesh will kill CDMA so as to grab high data customers from RCOM. CDMA Voice will be surely killed to free up spectrum As per ET Sources say Anil Ambani-controlled Rcom next week will sign a pact with Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Jio Infocomm to sell its airwaves in the 850 Mhz band - which can be used for 4G LTE - in 12 circles through a trading agreemen http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/markets/stocks/news/rcom-plunges-8-on-liberalisation-fee-demand-to-sign-pact-with-jio-next-week/articleshow/50560228.cms

dskumar 13 Report post Posted January 13, 2016 (edited) But the News article in ET says both the companies are going to share each other's spectrums. So That should not be a problem. I guess Its like 2 Entities which will be sharing one huge Conglomerate of CDMA and 4G. Only Billing and Tariff will be different. Something like the TATAs and VIRGIN Mobile of the past. Maybe RCOM is planning to go the same way. That way they get to keep their customers Happy, Honour their long term commitment , Utilize the Spectrum to the Maximum and at the same time take a dig at the 4G services. Virgin was only like marketing company. Kind of MVNO via some loophole RCOM here offers Voice and EVDO, Jio plan to use it for 4g Same spectrum you cant use for multiple purposes Jio does not hold Pan India Spectrum in 800Mhz where as RCOM have pan India 5Mhz in this band (1 Channel voice and 3 for Data) Should not be a problem where both the entities are holding spectrum

ravi_patent 28 Report post Posted January 16, 2016 (edited) this is the scenario According RCOM investor presentation if you are on 800 MHz band today and you are moving to 850 MHz band, depending on the arrangement that we have with Jio in terms of spectrum sharing and trading, you may have two scenarios in the circles; where you have more than 5 megahertz versus just 5 megahertz. So, there could be a migration -- complete migration of CDMA into LTE coming on the back of the falling prices of LTE ecosystem in case of 5 MHz circles, or CDMA could concurrently run for a while in parallel in case of more than 5 MHz spectrum. So, this will depend upon a circle to circle strategy . http://www.rcom.co.in/Rcom/aboutus/ir/pdf/RCOM-2QFY16-Earnings-Call-Transcript.pdf Bad news for RCOM CDMA customers if below is true.
