city02 63 Report post Posted May 27, 2010 My wife's normal airtel bills are about rs. 500 - 750 monthly but last month they jumped to over rs. 2,750 which was a bit of a shocker since I had just changed plans over a quarter ago to reduce costs. Now since she had gone to Kolkata for a week and we spoke a lot daily, the roaming came to rs. 1706 / 2502 = 68% of the net bill. Looking at the details, roaming incoming was just 190 leaving rs. 1483 for outgoing. This was for 12 hrs 25 min = 745 min over 116 calls. Assuming all her outgoing were STD [which they were not] the max rate was rs. 1.50 / min. But when you divide back, you get rs. 1483 / 745 min = rs. 1.99 / min instead. That's a difference of rs. 364 or paying 33% more for per minute billing while roaming! So even a rate of 3p/sec would work out cheaper than rs. 1.50/min. hmmm ... csmart 472 Report post Posted May 27, 2010 50p/minute is the best plan for most need.. it will be definetly cheaper than yours...
amitnsonu 72 Report post Posted May 27, 2010 I think PPS of reliance is better than 50p/min plan, like city02 did a calculation.
ACS 130 Report post Posted May 27, 2010 ^^^ Surprised why ppl are not recommending Simple PPS 199 plan with 1p/sec as an alternative to airtel. This is for Local/STD/Roaming everyhting.. Although it works out technically to 60p/min if spoken for longer duration, just check your itemised bill & see how many calls terminate within 50secs.. maximum !! SumitVerma 187 Report post Posted May 27, 2010 (edited) @ V Nath Let me please clarify! I do understand your point but this needs to be cleared out! Actually what happens is, suppose, we call and disconnect @ 10:01 minute, the bill will show total calling minutes and not showing 10:01 minutes as 11 minutes. That's where the difference arises. The only fault is they dont calculate the actual minutes that's chargeable. Same thing happen in my Tata and Airtel. Hope that clarifies Edited May 27, 2010 by SumitVerma

Dushie 30 Report post Posted May 28, 2010 Per second billing will be the ideal in reliance as i pay 1 paise per second, so no worries of call drops or disconnections during roaming.
