ankurcshah 112 Report post Posted June 1, 2010 Hi Guys I wanted to know which Service Provider should I go for as I need GPRS for my phone. I will be buying a new SIM card for GPRS alone. Needs: Facebook with Pictures, same as orkut. Day limit of 200-250 mb per day. Ready to spend RS 150/- monthly for it. Thanks Ankur..
srk006 21 Report post Posted June 1, 2010 (edited) ^^^ Go for DoCoMo's Rs.95 card for 6GB data per month. Good speed, Stable connection. Edited June 1, 2010 by srk006

ankurcshah 112 Report post Posted June 1, 2010 Hmm,Would the Rs48/- Plan be enough? I might cut down on the Net usage as I am in twelfth.and just to use the internet I would be using the new sim, otherwise I will use RIL. Are there any such plans in RIL GSM? srk006 21 Report post Posted June 1, 2010 What is per day limit for it? There is no per-day limit. Just 6GB for 30days. The 48 GRPS-Pack gives 2GB for 30 days.
srk006 21 Report post Posted June 1, 2010 Are there any such plans in RIL GSM? According to new tariffs, RGSM gives just 1GB for 15 days at Rs.51. With my personal experience, I suggest using DoCoMo just for GPRS. (I use R-GSM for voice)
ankurcshah 112 Report post Posted June 1, 2010 (edited) Oh,Okay. but won't the Settings of the phone change when I keep changing the Sim card?I have only one phone. I am using Samsung GT C5130 Edited June 1, 2010 by ankurcshah
srk006 21 Report post Posted June 1, 2010 ^^^ Which handset are you using? Usually Settings are stored on the phone and not overwritten. You can select which settings to use to connect for an application.

raccoon 53 Report post Posted June 1, 2010 Yes, as mentioned by srk006, you would need different settings, but most you should be able to store them on most phones and select which one to use everytime you change SIMs. Besides Docomo, check out Airtcel too. They have unlimited GPRS for Rs. 98 or whereabouts. However, most reviews seem to say that Docomo speeds are better. So better check out how things work in your area. Btw, could you post you comments on the c5130? It is one of the phone I'm considering. The main drawback is that in spite of it being marketed as a 3G phone, it is capable of only 384 kbps... which was one of the things that put me off.
ankurcshah 112 Report post Posted June 1, 2010 (edited) C5130 is an excellent phone IMO. Here are some pics I clicked with it. The loudspeaker quality is not so good and the mp3 playback sound is also about the same.I think you can go for it. The pic is a bit blurred.Sorry for that.
