Divx Player For Android & Evdo On Incredible Finally

Recommended Posts

BIG BREAKTHROUGH TO PLAY VIDEO FILES DIRECTLY WITHOUT CONVERTING -

I found this while surfing xda and thought you could all find it interesting as I have seen many people looking for DivX players here (myself included :-) ) (should work on all android devices, tested by me on Incredible)

This application can supposedly play Divx, Xvid, Mkv and RMB files.

I have FULLY TESTED IT and at 1st glance it looks pretty good and all my avi files play directly now. I will continue to test and hopefully will no longer need to convert my files to mp4.

If anyone is interested the app is not yet on the Market can be downloaded from link below -

http://rapidshare.co...divx_Player.apk

It is a closed beta. And as of right now DOES NOT see the internal memory at all. Only the sdcard. It watermarks the fps in the upper right hand corner.

But beyond that, it works beautifully.

edit: just noticed that if you click on the DIVX icon twice while its playing it will get rid of the FPS watermark

EDIT2: Enjoying Avatar directly on my Incredible in FULL HD, not a single stutter, thats the power of snapdragon...and loving my device more and more everyday...

Mods may pin this topic...

Sir but one more thing ... do u require HD to be played on cell phone ... cos even a 700mb normal avi file looks good on cell phone screen...I mean the screen resolution is less than the 700mb avi file resolution ... how would it matter if the video is HD or not !!!

Only if it is to be played via HDMI on a TV .. things will be different ....

i hope if anyone can find similar application for blackberry

i think i was using core player or something like that , dont remember exact name now

it also had ability to play normal videos without need to convert

BTW incredible doesnt play HD video , its simple avi files or HD rips in avi

true HD has frame rate much above 25fps , which if u put snapdragon wont handle

I found direct avi's to be playing more smoothly than converted mp4's... dvd rips are handled excellently... what more do u need in a device... all my old movie collection playing directly...

@dkaile, the above software does not work with my Hero running rooted sprint ruu 2.1. It installs just fine but subsequently refuses to play even the simplest most rudimentary .avi clips. I also tried other formats such as .wmv and it cant read those either. Could this software (demo player, as its called) be meant only for the Incredible or have any other android device been tested with it?

@sumitvarma, I tried installing the software from the '.kr' (korean?) site. It comes with a se***l ge****tor where one is supposed to feed in the Imei of the phone. I only have a 15 digit Imsi number (no imei as its cdma) which generates a code for registration which does not work. Has this been tested on a Hero?

Would love to have a good player for the Hero. If any other (non-conversion) players exist please do inform.

hmmm.... maybe it is compatible only with snapdragon or needs higher ram; because its working fine on both evo and incredible; more research needed...
